Restoring the JCPOA would not resolve the underlying issue of Iran’s past nuclear weapons work. It would, however, prevent Iran from being able to dash for a weapon now.

In dark moments like these, I am reminded of Mike Elleman, a colleague at @IISS_org who passed away way too soon.
Mike was the greatest missile expert, and he taught me (a complete amateur in defence matters) a lot about missiles, missile defence and UAVs. Mike was much more than this, a nice man with the biggest heart ever. He would be studying tonight's attacks with "a cool head and a warm heart", able to analyse and explain complex technical matters in simple ways all while remembering the people suffering in the war. We miss you, Mike.

On S3 E4 of #JapanMemo 'Japan's Approaches to Nuclear Non-Proliferation & Deterrence', Professor @nobu_akiyama rec'd Asia's Latent Nuclear Powers by @MarkTFitz & his own Genshi Ryoku/Kaku Mondai [Atomic Power/Nuclear Issue] in Showa Shi Kogi [Lectures on Show Era History].
#Iran's future will be decided by its people and only its people.
Kudos to brave Iranians who carry the torch on the ground, despite efforts by others to hijack their struggle.
A reminder that the former guy knew zilch about making a deal. "Both Trump and Kim were responsible. But Trump left Hanoi first, and he should not have." https://t.co/3uGcn02mvF…"North Korean Talks Collapsed but Didn’t Fail, by

I don’t focus much on Iran in my work but Dina was a colleague when I worked at the IISS in London. The attacks against her are ridiculous. She’s a great analyst. Disagreeing with her conclusions or recommendations is fine. Questioning her integrity or spreading falsehoods isn’t.
