Just read Team of Teams, Stanley McChrystal, for work. I’m looking forward to the training associated.

Finished Goliath’s Curse by Luke Kemp. Well-researched and broad, historical view of causes and effects of authoritarians.

Just finished reading 1863 The Rebirth of a Nation, Joseph E. Stevens. I particularly enjoyed the insight on the thoughts of the generals with the political strategizing of Lincoln and Davis.

[Mark Verbeck @MarkVerbeck]

@nuclear94 Thanks! It appears to be above our national target right now.

[Mark Verbeck @MarkVerbeck]

@JonathanBlitzer I agree! Although I didn’t read it until this year. Thanks!

Just finished reading, The Psychology of Gender. It was illuminating for me to review the results of many studies and reflect on my own impressions. Putting gender in the context of race, class, status, and orientation may help me be more emphatic.

I finished Strongmen, by @ruthbenghiat I can recommend the book for anyone who wants to understand the strategies and tactics of strongmen. I also feel better prepared to respond now.

Five African grey parrots were removed from public view at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park in the UK after repeatedly swearing at visitors and laughing together.

The parrots—Billy, Eric, Tyson, Jade, and Elsie—were donated by different owners but quickly bonded.

“Just pay attention to the way you behave and you will discover the school of philosophy you really belong to.” Epictetus, Discourses Book 11.

@HiawathaBray Their loss was my gain. I should have covered up that sticker.

[Mark Verbeck @MarkVerbeck]

I read You Are Here by @HiawathaBray. If you have the time and a place to read, it will give you some context on where here is for you.

[Mark Verbeck @MarkVerbeck]

I read Hit ‘em Where it Hurts by @RachelBitecofer It was well researched, had a compelling argument, and gave practical advice.

[Patton Oswalt @pattonoswalt]

Say howdy-do to Doug Hamlin, the new @NRA chief! When he was an impish college prankster he and some of his good-time frat bros cut off a cat’s paws, strung it up, set it on fire and watched as it burned alive. Anyhoo, he’s in charge of guns now! https://t.co/VCIwDvIVpW

[Mark Verbeck @MarkVerbeck]

@SafeChem79 @nuclear94 Too frightening. I won’t go.

[Mark Verbeck @MarkVerbeck]

@Rainmaker1973 Seems unethical at best and illegal endangerment at worst.

[Mark Verbeck @MarkVerbeck]

@deAdder That is awful, and it certainly wasn’t due to a lack of talent or creativity.
