@EducatorAdele@EducatorAdele thanks & glad to meet you! I am teaching #Dyslexia seminar this Mon Feb 12. https://t.co/SkP7fOVD20 Others in Feb too! I'm also on Instagram
Hi all. I’m moving my social media comm to Instagram @ MarkWeaklandLiteracy. I am unwilling to support Musk and now Alex Jones is back on X and he's the worst. Sandy Hook was a turning point for me (and many others). Can't support this platform. So let’s connect on Instagram!
Hey all - I'm moving my social media postings and communication to Instagram! Follow me there @ MarkWeaklandLiteracy. In the words of Mike Rutherford "I will follow you will you follow me..."
1. What’s it like to have someone say your words aren’t appropriate for kids?
I asked these authors, who have all had their books challenged in Florida schools:

@BayNews9Jeff@EllenHopkinsLit @OhReallyRio @ryanestrada Thank you for reporting on book banning in FL, @BayNews9Jeff . Your piece was both creative and informative. Now the public can understand what is involved and what is at stake. Here's to liberty and freedom for books and information in 2024!
Some of my favorite concepts and ideas in this book tie directly to the big ideas in reading and science of reading reminders: effective teaching techniques really matter, moving Ss to mastery of phonology and then alphabetic principal are key, reading is always about meaning!

Re 2nd grader w/severe #dyslexia, I suggested to teacher: try teaching ONLY letter form & sound (NO letter names) until basic CVC decoding takes hold. @LexonikST Check out interesting comments & studies around this idea- https://t.co/dEbognMl7R https://t.co/kLKdvuOPIv #earlyed
Melissa Stewart continues her string of engaging, high-quality nonfiction books on a wide range of topics. All her books help move children to an understanding of natural systems and an appreciation for Earth. Wonderful!
I super excited to play a part in the great professional development provided by Golding Touch. I'll be sharing many practical activities useful for teaching all readers & spellers and especially effective for those who struggle. Plus, you get a free book! Onward & upward!
The countdown is on! We're only a few weeks away from our first session of the year discussing effective common sense strategies for struggling readers with @MarkWeakland. Everyone will leave with a FREE book! Sign up here: https://t.co/CWX0G7lrZ4
Spot on @ZinnEdProject. Leveraging terrible laws, a small # of people are trying to erase histories of entire groups of people, as well as deeply personal stories of self & family. Erasing is unAmerican! We all have stories to tell. Let's work to protect our freedom to tell them.
@NMAAHC@KidadaEWilliams A wonderful picture book, "When Wilma Rudolph Played Basketball" by @MarkWeakland includes her childhood story.
It is one of countless books challenged in Florida under the "Stop Woke Act" for being "anti-white" because of its honest reference to racism.

Ts - As promised, my new blog follows up on a previous post by discussing less formal types of guided repeated reading, as well as independent re-reading activities. Happy spring! https://t.co/sCiKtpn5PA @ILAToday@CorwinPress@stenhousepub#Dyslexia#Reading
My new blog series looks at guided repeated reading, repeated reading, & supported non-repetitive reading - they all build reading fluency. Rate can be over-rated so focus on reading quality! https://t.co/mCmIjmcoJs @ILAToday@CorwinPress@stenhousepub#Dyslexia#Reading
