While @websummit was again a well-oiled machine for technology and networking, Vancouver, BC, Canada has become a city of drug addicts and vagrants as far as the eye can see. The once booming and gorgeous metropolis has taken socialist policies to such an extreme that people now don't own the property they thought they did (ancestors of the native tribes do), where the average worker earns $60k Canadian (net $35k), while the homeless get $80k of value tax free with free needles, drugs (yes, drugs) and cell phones. Note that the public employees get ($100k) far more than the taxpayer who they work for. Human incentives are everything. They are backwards in BC.
Maybe this happens with every generation but it seems like the gap between what the >60 crowd sees as good ideas and what everyone else does, is wide and growing.
From elbows up, to ideas that involve trying to trap people in Canada with taxes or penalties, it is becoming increasingly difficult to feel united and aligned.
This is difficult for me to say as I grew up with "respect your elders" drilled into me.
But the rest of us need to live with the decisions we make now for a very, very long time.
All of this to say that we need younger voters to start exercising their democratic rights or we're going to be elbows up, unemployed and waiting in line at a government owned grocery store.

@tobi There’s a weirdly coordinated response to this from the left going on in my algo, almost in lockstep. Zero context as to what milestones are required for @elonmusk to unlock any of this compensation.
You noticing the same? @tobi
Very strange attack on markets and capitalism
