We have T-shaped pillars at Taş Tepeler sites that are considered anthropomorphic due to details like hands and arms carved onto the bodies of the pillars. Therefore, the top part of the pillars were interpreted as representing heads - even though they don’t show faces.

Now, we finally have a pillar that shows a face!!

I’m back on site at Karahan Tepe and the ongoing excavations continue. 🪏

Last year, this circular enclosure (best viewed as a “special building”), was a little more than a quarter excavated.

Now, so much more has been revealed since last year — right here where the world’s oldest standing statue was just found 2 years ago.
