Far too many popular strategies for teaching reading are not actually supported by research. We sifted through to find the ones that are most effective.
Our world is changing so quickly. It is a challenge for learning & development systems to keep up. All learning processes are having to change, from formal education, to workplace learning, to the way we organise big conferences & seminars. Here's a good overview of some of the key trends from @brainiup_play. Thanks @WiemanEmile.
Many commentators talk about the importance of so-called "soft skills" for leadership into the future. @IDEOU has (so appropriately) rebranded them as "power skills". Here's their brilliant list of 12 key power skills:
1) Cultivating joy
2) Meaningful collaboration
3) Small-scale experimentation
4) Grounding in purpose
5) Creating community
6) Frame shifting
7) Leading with empathy
8) Emotional proofreading
9) Making room for more voices
10) Leading with questions
11) Finding balance
12) Agility

1) Collaborate with and observe colleagues
2) Solicit feedback from students
3) Reflect on what worked and what didn’t

The final liturgy of the Galilee 3.0 Retreat was beautiful and incorporated the psalms written by participants. A fitting end to a weekend of illuminations, reflection and sharing. See you in November!
Today’s sessions included praying the Breviary or Morning Prayers of the Church and participants writing their own psalm for our final liturgy of the retreat. What a gift!
What a day we had today on our Galilee 3.0 retreat! We delved even deeper into the Psalms, looking at the types of psalms and how to note aspects of them. We then had some reflective time, followed by Mass and a Taize service. Can’t wait for what tomorrow brings!
Let us often turn to Mary, Mother of believers! The various forms of Marian devotion, and especially the recitation of the #HolyRosary, will help us live our journey of faith and Christian witness. #PrayTogether
