Huge Congratulations to the first Intern Midwives at #WexfordMaternity who have both reached the milestone and NMBI requirement of delivering 40 babies each as part of their qualification. @DOM_WGH@ucdsnmhs@HSEDubSouthEast
I thought this moment would never come and here we are! I reached the big student midwife milestone at last… 40 births! I’m so thankful for all the amazing midwives that supported me to get to this point 🤩 nearly there! #studentmidwife#midwifery#40births
Our new simulation suite is taking shape!! Given how vital practical learning is for our students, we’re so excited for our learners to access this state of the art facility. The next few weeks will involve testing and pilots to make sure everything is ready to go for 2025 🚀🚀
Midwife moment 🩷
A woman stops me in the coffee shop ‘ you’re a midwife aren’t you, you looked after me 15 years ago’.
Made more special in that i was wearing a mask ‘i recognised your eyes’ she said🩷
She seemed very happy to meet me again ‘you never forget’ she said 🩷
We are delighted to share our new 'Home from Home' birthing suite @WexGenHosp,welcoming many babies in this calming environment. This inspiring transformation is a wonderful addition to our maternity unit👏. Thanks @NMPDUKilkenny for supporting this initiative. #morechoice
That would fall in line perfectly with strategic priority 2 - leadership. Let's see some midwifery leadership for documents that pertain to midwifery in @roinnslainte in the future please 5/5
⭐ Why is the midwife an 'advisor' but the nurses are 'Deputy Chief Nurse' or 'Project nursing officers'?
⭐ Why do we have a chief medic, a chief dentis& a chief nurse in @roinnslainte but not a chief midwife?
Language matters. Nursing is not representing Midwifery but..

We have the CNO supported by multiple nursing staff (6) & a midwife 'advisor' (1).
Midwifery representation not even mentioned in the message from CNO - 'wider team'.
Midwives are not advisors to nurses. Midwifery is a legally separate profession&this does not read well 2/
