Otto Olendorf defense:
Anticipatory self-defense / "Permanent security" - He portrayed the killings as a necessary preemptive measure against an existential threat posed by Jews (whom he linked to Bolshevism/Communism), Roma, and other "undesirable" groups. He argued they represented a mortal danger to Germany, and eliminating them (including children, who would grow up to seek revenge) was required for the "permanent security" of the German people and Reich.

This was framed as defensive action in a ideological/racial war rather than mere criminality.
