Product Manager at Oracle. Technology enthusiast. Author, blogger, speaker. Ace Director alumnus, ex Enkitec. I work for Oracle but do not speak for them.
The benefit of staying up to date is tangible: I haven’t used git worktrees until very recently and I paid a price of inconvenience. Worktrees can address lots of common problems working with branches and they are easy to use. You really should give them a try-they are awesome 🙌
@sky_vst@LisbonMarathon I did the relay for Cologne last week, loved it too (in my worn out Brooks Ghost). My body won’t allow me to run a full marathon but I’m aiming for a half next year.
@alina_yurenko There are striking parallels to the movie Wall-E I saw years ago where earth’s survivors lived on the space ship and each generation was less able to walk. Feels like that might not be limited to our limbs …

Good things happen when you put your reading glasses on and keep an eye on the intsy wintsy fonts on screen 😀 @oracleapex#orclapex https://t.co/KL4i9aBdqK
"Dafür habe ich keine Zeit, lass uns das automatisieren". Klingt einfach. Ist es aber nicht immer. 😉

Watch this comparison of PL/SQL and server-side JavaScript as both are tasked with solving the same challenge in Oracle AI Database 26ai. https://t.co/BzJObgoiXV
We explain how Application Continuity and Transparent Application Continuity help Oracle Database applications recover from interruptions while reducing the need for custom recovery logic. https://t.co/rHjE7SL0tA
💡 An unexpected use case for Oracle's VALUES clause-building SQL scripts!
Instead of maintaining strings or repetitive UNION ALL queries VALUES lets you create inline tables and turn them into SQL commands.
A fun little SQL trick using GRANT statements:

@nakanishiyasuo Don't worry, we are actively working on GraalVM within our own distribution like we aways did, with releases shipping as scheduled, and major projects, such as Crema, Layers, and others coming along nicely. See also https://t.co/KkyoPD9ZMw

@iaoug_com@chetanyadavvds I’d like to add rolling patching, safe session draining, runtime load balancing, extensive instrumentation (Automatic Workload Repository, Active Session History), etc to the mix. Hardware is resilient these days, an x86-64 box today is as solid as UNIX was 15 ago
@JoeIngeno Use Liquibase for database CI (or whatever you prefer), use version control for any schema object, unit test it, and create deployable artifacts. It can be done: https://t.co/gFiuqpnmI8
@JoeIngeno tables, running assertions and complex aggregations, including locking and atomic behaviour in a proper transaction, by all means, do this within the database. There is nothing stopping you from synchronously developing database and front end logic at all 2/n
@hnasr Modern databases add a safeguard to this: resource management allows me to define max CPU utilisation per incoming service. This also protects against connection storms and connection leaks. Use resource management whenever you can 👌
