The edTPA is also causing many qualified, older, Alternate Route candidates (with more life experience) to seek other forms of employment (which pay more than public school teaching)!
@shadualz @RutgersAltRoute During remote learning, a student called my class and myself a joke in the comments on Google Classroom. A fellow student corrected him! He later apologized.
Also, I missed a few chances to speak up and intercede last year and will be more aware for this coming year.
I agree. I miss some of the exchanges between my students in class and don't see their electronic messages between each other and posted on various sites.
@RutgersAltRoute A4 #AltRtEd#Standuptobullying Students cannot learn if they do not feel safe in your classroom. They won't even want to come to class. We need to model appropriate behavior, i.e. we shouldn't bully our students.
@RutgersAltRoute A3: #AltRtEd#standuptobullying I need to do a better job of communicating with the parents. I met some at "Back to School" night. If I have a problem, I can discuss it with my fellow teachers or the science coordinator or with a guidance counselor or other staff.
@RutgersAltRoute A1 I teach 20 to 25 students in a small room. I listen to what the students say to each other and intervene if I here something that sounds inappropriate. I'm also on the lookout for any physical intimidation. #AltRtEd and #standuptobullying
@RutgersAltRoute I communicate with parents via email or telephone. They can log into Google classroom and can also long in to see their kids grades in Genesis. We only got to meet them face-to-face for 5 minutes during back to school night. I wish we have more time to speak with the parents.
@RutgersAltRoute@Tolerance_org@NEAToday In my second year, I'd like to be able to update the parents on the topics we are learning. Communication with parents tends to be about problems, but I'd like to make it more positive. Need to learn how to email all the parents at once. Thanks.

@RutgersAltRoute A5, #AltRtEd#EdTech I communicate with parents via email or telephone. They can log into Google classroom and can also long in to see their kids grades in Genesis. We only got to meet them face-to-face for 5 minutes during back to school night. Not enough.
@RutgersAltRoute A4, #AltRtEd#SpEd Tech Challenges: They maybe looking at their ChromeBooks, but it's might be Football and not Physics! Also, they were all hooked on playing Madden Football on their iPhones during class.
@RutgersAltRoute A3, #AltRtEd#EdTech Our group of science teachers has had 2x weekly Zoom meetings from home. Prior we had monthly meetings and lots of email. I using email or phone text messaging with a few colleagues. On the other hand, my students mostly use their iPhones for communication
@RutgersAltRoute "A2", #AltRtEd#EdTech A barrier I've encountered lately is not knowing if my teaching lesson is getting through to the students, so I've tried asking them a daily question. It should make them read the book and also serves as my way of taking attendance.
@RutgersAltRoute "A1", "#AltRtEd#EdTech" I teach HS Science classes and I've been using Google Classroom all year and even more now that we switched to remote learning. I've also used Kahoots. I have a smart white board, that's not too smart and doesn't always work & my students have chromebooks
