@charliehawk93 I'm not sure a good CL record translates to a WC well. Been a mixed record from some top managers at good teams: Luis Enrique at Spain and Flick at Germany.
@saintbannerman@Southamptonia@C0AKESY So would I, but if England won I'd be extremely happy. It's not either or, I support both, not like I have to choose.
@JohnWight1 You really reckon that 4pts is beyond this England team? Kane is in better nick that usual, solid wingers, more functional midfield than the last Euros.
@FeedTheSpud Must be in competitive games, which are virtually all against teams that are generally inferior to Mexico.
Still a mightily impressive record though.
@usmntonly Having a good head to head record doesn't make a team more likely to win a tournament by default. England have a winning record against France and Argentina at WCs, hasn't stopped them being better teams.
@RonnLennon Losing friendlies with mostly 2nd choice teams isnt a concern in and of itself, but the fact that we haven't played a top team in a competitive game since the Euros is a problem.
@England_Pod@FotMob Full strength, only chance to gel the XI.
Pickford, James, Guรฉhi, Konsa*, O'Reilly, Anderson, Rice, Bellingham, Saka, Kane, Rashford.
Stones for Konsa I could see, and I know Tuchel prefers Rogers, but for me has to be the above.
@United_Theory@NeilMac555 Winning friendlies against top teams didnt stop England having shit tournaments, crap form including losing friendlies against worse teams didnt preclude good/better tournament showing six
@SpursAcad1 If the attackers aren't getting supplied with quality balls, then that won't matter. England have gone into tournaments with great attacks, and gone out because they had no control, I don't see that changing with such a flimsy midfield and defence as projected there.
@FPL_Heisenberg I actually also feel that Spain should get onto this list. There's been a bit of rivalry across the youth teams, women's and now men's teams in the last few years.
@FPL_Heisenberg That I'd agree with. The thing is that with Ireland and Wales, if we lost then like with Scotland, it would be awful for us as fans. But if we beat them (which we do most of the time nowadays) it's not as good as beating the others.
@England_Pod Southgate did a good job. He wasn't a top tactician, but what he did for the England set up elevated us well above what a top manager would realistically do with the team. I don't think any manager could have taken the team further from where they were when Southgate took over.
