The Future of the Advancing Gender Equality in Media and Civil Society (AGEMCS) Project

The panel discussion on the impact of the AGEMCS project, moderated by Dr Caroline Kiarie from GSMC, brought together powerful voices including Martin Juma (Tunza Safeguarding), Dr Edna Thangu (Kenyatta University), AGEMCS beneficiaries Betty Luke and Kamadi Amata, Andrew Kaggwa (Standard Media), and Agnes Kola (AKF Gender Specialist).

Their conversation painted a clear picture of how AGEMCS has influenced the media and civil society space. From strengthening skills and safeguarding practices to elevating gender-responsive reporting, research, credibility, and policy work and how far the initiatives have come.

While this marks the close of an important chapter, they underscored that it is far from the end. Instead, AGEMCS has laid a strong, lasting foundation that will continue to empower journalists, storytellers, and institutions across the region. The work of advancing gender equality doesn’t stop here; this is only the beginning of an even more sustained and meaningful journey.
