@WarrenGLewis1 @TedRall They are allowed to do this because the capitalist constitute the ruling class of society, who, as capitalism historically developed, have a legal system and a state apparatus that shifted to serve the needs of this new system and of this new ruling class.

@WarrenGLewis1 @TedRall Yes they originate from the labor of workers in the past. That is all what wealth is, free time given by the growing efficiency of means of production, build and developed by workers.

Money is a stand in for the resources that represent this wealth.

@WarrenGLewis1 @TedRall This forces businesses to shut down or to fire workers in order to maintain profit margins as they can’t sell all of their output. This is called a business cycle, or a recession if it happens all across the economy.

@WarrenGLewis1 @TedRall Well in order for restaurants to succeed people need more disposable income, which comes from wages. Wages, which capitalist try to suppress as much as possible, hurt the economy.

The contradiction is that this means there is less money for consumption.

@WarrenGLewis1 @TedRall Idk if you realized this, but capitalist own the economy and can decide if the constituents of a politician keep their jobs at Walmart or not.

So naturally, politicians are forced to care about capitalist interests, and central banks follow.

That’s not to mention lobbying.
