Clint Eastwood Said Something About Getting Old That Stopped Me Cold.
Aging is not gentle.
You are still here. Still present. Still watching the world move. But the body that carried you through everything - the wars, the work, the wildness of youth - begins to ask for more than you can give it. Joints that never complained now speak up in the morning. Eyes that once took in everything now flinch at the light. Breathing, which never required a single thought, starts needing little pauses.
But none of that is the hardest part.
The hardest part is the quiet.
At a certain age, you reach for the phone and remember there is no one left to call.
The people who knew you when you were young - who remembered the same summers, the same streets, the same faces
- are gone. One by one, then all at once, until the memories you carry have no one left to share them with.
So you tell the stories anyway.
To whoever will listen. With a little more color than perhaps the truth deserves. With a touch of pride you've earned and a grief you don't always name. You know the person across from you wasn't there. You know they can't quite feel it the way you do.
But you tell them. Because the telling is the holding on.
Those stories are not just memories. They are the proof that a life was lived. That people were loved. That things mattered.
And if no one asks for them - you offer them anyway, quietly, like setting something down on a table and hoping someone picks it up.
Old age is not simply what happens to a face or a body.
It is memory looking for a place to rest.
And what an older person needs - more than advice, more than solutions, more than someone telling them how to feel - is simply someone willing to sit down, be still, and listen.
Not to fix anything.
Just to be there.
That is the whole gift. And it costs nothing.

🚨 BREAKING: The US Senate has just REJECTED the SAVE America Act as part of budget reconciliation, 48-50 — would've required voter ID and proof of citizenship nationwide
REPUBLICAN NAYs: Thom Tillis, Lisa Murkowski, Mitch McConnell and Susan Collins
UNBELIEVABLE!!
It needed 60 votes.
Why can't the Senate pass what over 80% of Americans want?!

This very important article caught my eye because it explains exactly what goes on with the Republican Party in red states everywhere, not just in Texas.
"Texas Democratic Party Chair Kendall Scudder is calling on members of his party in the state House to drop their support of Republican Speaker Dustin Burrows, who won the gavel with mostly Democratic support last legislative session over an insurgent candidate favored by the hard-right."
To understand the meaning of that paragraph, you have to know what goes on in Republican-led legislatures like the one in Texas. The Speaker is elected by a majority of the House, but because of competing factions within the GOP and the deceitful tactics of pro-big business Republicans, Republican speakers like the previous one, Dade Phelan, colluded with Democrats to garner majority support with promises that they would be "the least bad option" for the Democrats. So the ones that typically got screwed are conservative Republicans, who would be subsequently locked out of the backroom deals forged between moderate Democrats and Republicans. In other words, "controlled opposition" is a real phenomenon in red states, where there are essentially three parties, left, middle, and right, not two, and conservative control is just an mirage.
Prior to this last session, Texas GOP Speakers were very moderate in order to keep the Democrat support they needed to hold the gavel without conservative backing. But a rebellion by Republican voters in 2024 that nearly ended Dade Phelan's career and removed some other colluding Republicans from office sent the signal that the illusory facade of conservative control would no longer be tolerated. Enter Dustin Burrows, who was elected Speaker under the threat that any squishy Republican could be next to go.
Instead of the usual, Burrows did what GOP Speakers should do, which is to pass conservative priorities. Ending DEI and redistricting were big wins this last session. As a result, Texas House Democrats are saying the quiet part out loud: they are going to oppose Burrows because they did not get what they thought they could get from him. Moderate Republicans are on the run and have to face the fact that conservatives are gaining power. They are faced with the choice of either coalescing as one party or facing the wrath of the voters. X and other social media have mobilized GOP voters very effectively, as tone-deaf Indiana State Senators recently discovered after refusing to redistrict.

With everything we are hearing right now about ticks this seems like good information to share.
“Here’s what I’ve learned after more ticks than I care to count.
First, whatever your uncle told you, forget it. No matches. No nail polish. No Vaseline. No soap on a cotton ball. All of those do the same terrible thing, they stress the tick out, and a stressed tick empties its gut back into the bite before letting go. Which, if you think about what that actually means for a second, is literally how Lyme and the rest get transmitted so you’re not speeding up its exit. You’re making it throw up into you.
Fine-tipped tweezers. Grip right where the mouthparts enter the skin, not the body, the head. Pull straight up, steady, no twisting, no jerking. It’ll feel like it’s resisting because it is, the mouthparts are barbed. Just keep the pressure on and it lets go in a few seconds. If a piece breaks off in the skin, leave it alone. Your body pushes splinters out. Digging around with a needle does more damage then the fragment ever would.
Clean it with alcohol or soap. Wash your hands.
Now here’s the part most people skip: don’t flush the tick.
Tape it to an index card. Clear packing tape right over the body, write the date and where on your body it was, and stick the card in a drawer. If you come down with anything weird in the next 30 days, rash, fever, joint pain, that flu-that-isn’t-flu feeling, that tick goes with you to the doctor. Some labs will test the tick itself, which is faster and often more reliable than waiting for antibodies to show up in your own blood. A dated tick taped to a card is one of the most useful things you can hand a doctor who’s trying to figure out what’s wrong with you.
The other thing worth saying out loud: if the tick was engorged when you pulled it, and you can’t swear it was off your body within 24 hours, call your doctor that same day. Don’t wait for a rash. Fewer than three out of four Lyme cases even produce the classic bullseye. A single preventive dose of doxycycline within 72 hours of a deer tick bite cuts the Lyme odds way down, and most docs in tick country will write that prescription without giving you a hard time, especially if you walk in with the tick taped to a card and a clear timeline.”
Holy smokes, this is a boss move. 🤯
The leverage Trump is about to assert over sanctuary cities via his DHS is truly next-level catastrophic for them.
The sanctuary city airports that would lose International Flights are:
✈️ Los Angeles (LAX)
✈️ Chicago (O’Hare, Midway)
✈️ San Francisco (SFO)
✈️ Seattle (SEA)
✈️ Boston (BOS)
✈️ Denver (DEN)
✈️ Philadelphia (PHL)
✈️ Newark (EWR)

FORMERLY HIDDEN FBI DOCUMENTS WERE JUST RELEASED BY KASH @Real_RobN
This doc-drop by @FBIDirectorKash CONFIRMS:
Not only did the FBI stage January 6 five months before it happened while the DNC planned to overthrow the United States government if Trump won, “Provoke a breakdown on January 6 to disrupt the proceedings and prevent the vote from going through.”
But Christopher Wray also had 274 federal agents embedded at the official proceedings of Jan. 6 and had federal agents infiltrating chat rooms months before January 6 orchestrating for the overthrow of the U.S. government.
United States Representative Clay Higgins: VINDICATED
@RepClayHiggins : “Christopher Wray was not only involved in the actions on J6 from within—he had over 200 agents embedded, dressed as Trump supporters, before the doors were even opened.”
“When you track the text threads and the communications within those groups and trace the origins of suggestions of potential violence or an active occupation of the Capitol on January 6, you’ll find that those messages were led by members who turned out to be FBI agents infiltrating the groups. The FBI’s involvement was deep—not just on J6, but in the days, weeks, and months prior.”

This is the best articulation of how I feel about Israel. Thank you.
I literally traveled to CEU in Budapest to gain access to private Soros archives. I smuggled in a scanner to scan every document possible.
And here's the hard truth: Israel simply isn't a player. Yes, many impactful policymakers are Jewish. But Jewish isn't Israel. Israel is just a tiny nobody country that has outsized impact in the USA of extreme religious significance to Muslims.
Muslim nations also happen to be by far the most powerful UN voting bloc and thus arguably the most powerful global faction in the world. So if UN has to pass anything, they have to get approval from Muslims. Which makes Israel a disproportionate target.
As a result, literally billions upon billions of dollars are being spent by Muslim nations to condition everyone into thinking Israel has some sort of influence. And that's why news media about Israel dropping a few million on influencers dominate everything but you have Qatar spending billions and billions in influence pass by in silence.
🚨 Stephen Miller says the scale of welfare fraud is SO MASSIVE that eliminating it alone could balance the ENTIRE federal budget
"The amount that has been fleeced from us is in the HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS of dollars."
"We could balance the federal budget if the only dollars that went out of the treasury went to individuals who were properly, lawfully, correctly eligible to receive them."
This should infuriate EVERY taxpayer.
Wow
Beautiful Memorial Day message from Spencer Pratt

Low early voting turnout in Montgomery County, Texas.
This county went +27🟨 Paxton in the primary.
Unless you want John Cornyn to win, Paxton needs HUGE turnout on Election Day.

I posted this photo of legendary cowboy Thomas Blasingame, who died while cowboying at he age of 91 once before, but now I have the fantastic AP obituary that was written about him. From 1989:
CLARENDON, Texas -- A man believed to have been the oldest working cowboy in Texas died the way he wanted, stretched out in the prairie grass with his boots on, friends said.
Thomas Everett Blasingame, 91, was found lying on his back Wednesday by fellow cowhands at the JA Cattle Co. ranch near Clarendon in the Texas Panhandle. His saddled horse was standing nearby.
'If he had written it down on paper, he wouldn't have changed a word,' said Buster McLaury, the cattle foreman on the ranch.
About 400 people attended graveside services Saturday at the JA Cattle Co. cemetery near Clarendon. The last burial in the cemetery had been in 1899.
Johnny Farrar, the ranch's business manager, said Blasingame was riding a young horse he was training just before his death.
'He must have known he was in trouble, dismounted and just laid down and died,' Farrar said. 'There were no bruises or scratches, so he wasn't bucked off.'
Blasingame's son, Thomas E. Blasingame Jr. of Hereford, said the cowboy was laid to rest during a traditional 'cowboy funeral,' with the hearse accompanied to the graveyard by Blasingame's riderless horse and cowboys on horseback.
There were lots of people there,' the younger Blasingame said. 'It was a pretty pleasant day. Things went real well.'
Blasingame was born in Waxahachie on Feb. 2, 1898, and was a cowboy all his life.
He came to the JA Cattle Co. in 1918, then left two years later to go to Southern California, New Mexico and Arizona. He returned in 1934 and remained at the ranch until his death.
'(He) had chosen to be a cowboy when he was a little kid,' said Thomas Blasingame Jr. 'The reason he lived so long was because he did what he did for his entire life.'
Farrar said Blasingame's job was to look after the cattle and horses, the ranch's fence and windmill. He said Blasingame displayed outstanding qualities for a cowboy of any age.
'It was exceptional for him at age 91, because he performed the job just as all other cowboys do,' Farrar said.
Blasingame married his wife, Eleanor, when he was 35. He lived during the week at the Campbell Creek Camp in Palo Duro Canyon, 9 miles south of ranch headquarters. The camp had no electricity or telephone, and his wife lived in nearby Claude.
'He was a good, kind man to everyone,' Eleanor Blasingame said. 'When he died, it was the first time I've ever seen a bunch of cowboys just crying. They were all devastated by his death.'"
I told y'all it was a fabulous obituary!
