Ilhan Omar Says She Didn't Know She'd Married Her Brother As They Were Separated At Birth And Hidden From Their Father, Darth Vader https://t.co/LioPMYHOiG
In January 2025 my mom’s lung cancer spread to her brain. The drug with the best chance of helping her was approved in China but not here.
A doctor told me, almost as an aside, that if she were Chinese she could buy it at a pharmacy.
So I flew to Shanghai and came home with 26 boxes in my luggage. That was 19 months ago. My mom is still here, still working, and in her words has had an amazing three years.
The drug was approved in China in 2023. The FDA approved it in July 2025. It still is not for sale here. I know of at least 30 Americans who have made the same trip.
I have been scared to tell this story because I worried it could cost my mom access to the medicine keeping her alive. But the problem matters more than my silence. These drugs need to be developed and available here, and that means FDA reform.
Art Allen at KFF Health News told our story this week. It also ran in The Washington Post.

1876.
The samurai era has just ended.
A few years earlier, Christianity was still illegal in Japan.
Japan sends for one American to build a college on its frozen northern frontier.
A Civil War colonel from Massachusetts.
William S. Clark.
He's given one year.
He gets it done in eight months.
He teaches farming. Science. Discipline.
And he brings his Bible.
His students sign a covenant of faith.
April 1877.
The day he leaves, they ride beside him for 13 miles.
Nobody wants to say goodbye.
At the last stop, he turns his horse.
Looks at them one last time.
And shouts:
"Boys, be ambitious!"
Then he's gone.
He never sees Japan again.
One of the boys from his school ends up on Japan's 5,000-yen bill.
Nearly 150 years later, every Japanese kid knows his words.
Most Americans have never heard his name.
Now you have.
Be proud of him, America.
Japan still is.
🚨 BREAKING: Tad Jude just dropped the political ad of the cycle in Minnesota.
You need to watch every second of this. It’s time to take our state back, Minnesota!
Hot take from Japan:
The greatest thing America ever sent us is Costco.
Hear me out.
Japanese homes are small. Our fridges are small. Our cars are small.
So on a Saturday morning, a Japanese family squeezes into their tiny car, drives to Costco, and walks into a building roughly the size of their entire neighborhood.
They see a 48-pack of toilet paper.
They have nowhere to put it.
They buy it anyway.
They buy a box of muffins bigger than their kid's head.
They buy a rotisserie chicken. Nobody knows where it's going to fit in the fridge.
On the drive home, the kids in the back seat are buried under paper towels.
Then something very Japanese happens.
Back home, they split everything with the neighbors.
Half the muffins go next door.
The toilet paper gets divided between three families.
Somebody's grandma receives a giant jar of peanut butter she will never fully understand.
That's the thing about Costco in Japan.
It was built for big American families.
So Japan turned the whole neighborhood into one.
America, thank you. Our apartments have never been this full.
Or this happy.
🚨 Stephen Miller is ABSOLUTELY TORCHING the Somalis who came to this country to LOOT AND PLUNDER American taxpayers
"You spent HALF YOUR WORKING LIFE paying for fraudsters and scammers, many of whom are refugees, illegal aliens and foreigners who came to this country to loot and plunder us."
"They came here from Somalia, been living here for a year or two. They say, 'I'm going to open up a fake daycare. I'll tell Keith Ellison, I'll tell Governor Walz, I'm taking care of 200 kids. Send me a check for $30 million.'"
"What do they do? They buy Mercedes, they buy BMWs, they buy a MANSION."
"They are living the high life. While you, the American citizen who's worked your entire life and done it the right way, you paid every parking ticket you ever had, are funding that lifestyle. That's what the Democrat Party did to you."
Absolutely SPOT ON, @StephenM.
