Millions of women and girls around the world spend hours each day on unpaid care work: cooking, cleaning, collecting water, and caring for children, the sick, and the elderly. This invisible labor sustains households, communities, and economies—yet it often goes unrecognized and undervalued.
On this day dedicated to workers, we must also call for fair policies and investments that recognize, reduce, and redistribute unpaid care work.
Let’s build a future where all workers—in every form—are seen, supported, and empowered.
Care is work. And it deserves recognition.

What an absolutely remarkable day it has been in Zanzibar today, August 24, 2023, as both the Country Director of Care International in Tanzania, Ms. Prudence Masako, and the Head of Finance Mr. Auson Kimwihangilo joined hands and minds with the Chairperson Hon. Wanu Hafidh Amir,
CARE Tanzania's commitment resonates through capital mobilization through VSLA strategies and the cultivation of farming excellence through the Farmers Field Business Schools (FFBS) training program. Also through the transformative Co-Ownership Model—a pioneering endeavor.
Adding a spark of distinction was the presence of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Hon. Antony Mavunde. His passionate emphasis on continued collaboration to empower cashew farmers with education, capital, and amplified crop value echoes our own dedication.
