well, to double down on my own theory, I finally bought a Deed last night with a resource I’ve been chasing for months.
yep, it’s a Luster T4 with the #2 resource, Fragmentia.
i might have had some doubts about buying a nearly empty Deed before, but now this feels like one of the smartest purchases in @OthersideMeta I could have made.
that said, I do have some concerns. if planting resources turns out to be too easy or too common, it could dilute the value of rare resources.
so if this mechanic does become a thing, i think it will probably come with some restrictions: a low seed drop rate, long growing times, and possibly requirements tied to land tier, sediment, or player level.
overall, i don’t think this theory is far-fetched at all. it aligns pretty well with both the team’s official statements and the economic mechanics they’ve already shown us.
an idea I wanted to share.
@imjameshall and @mfigge have mentioned several times that they have plans for Deeds without resources and that these Deeds aren’t just sitting there for no reason.
so here’s my theory. it’s pretty simple, but I think we’ll be able to plant seeds of different resources on empty deeds.
where would we get these seeds? maybe they’ll have a small chance of dropping while gathering resources. Perhaps Kodas will have a higher drop rate. and obviously, it could take some time for a seed to grow into a full resource.
but honestly, this makes a lot of sense to me.
we also know that resources in @OthersideMeta are finite and will regenerate over time. i think that detail adds even more weight to the seed theory.
well, we’re getting closer and closer to the resource economy beta launch @OthersideMeta
one thing from this bigger thread really put my mind at ease: every Deed will be completely unique!
even if you take two deeds of the same land tier, with the same environment and resources placed in exactly the same spots, the Deeds themselves will still look different thanks to the random generation system. that’s really cool
as for the launch date, my guess is December 12, the same day Nexus launched last year, if I remember correctly
ahead of the launch of the resource economy in @OthersideMeta, I picked up 3 deeds from top 20 resources:
- Onyx #11
- Amberskull #18
- Etheria #20
that brings my collection to 35 Deeds and 36 resources
all OTC deals. huge thanks to @Willie_1of1 for the smooth trade 👏
my october recap:
- earned 4 figs from nfts
- avg >8 hours of sleep/day
- went to ApeFest in Charleston, SC
- crossed 3,700 followers
- bought some more nfts
- still looking for a good partnerships
what about you?
Hey @imjameshall, just curious if you’re planning to add a friends system to @OthersideMeta
i want to be able to see where my fellow apes are hanging out
it’s honestly hilarious watching people dump their NFTs at floor offers when @OthersideMeta is closer to launch than ever before
now that we’ve seen actual mechanics for gathering resources, crafting, and traveling across the deeds, people are FUDing even harder …
but to be fair, I get it. Yuga has been pretty quiet until recently
most people will post a chair and call it a day. I actually read the prospectus.
the part that stuck:
a Seat by itself earns nothing. you enroll it. one-time fee in TMF. then it can vote, and then it can receive.
the Briefcase is an on-chain account owned by the Seat. sell the chair and the cash inside goes with it. the buyer is paying for both.
supply is minted once. 401,000 TMF per Seat, 4,001 Seats, no team allocation. contracts have no owner, no upgrade, no pause. two Seats can merge. no new Seat can ever be created. the number only goes down. that’s the part I care about. not the office aesthetic. the rules.
I’ve been in this since 2021. most “funds” in crypto are a multisig and a vibe. this one wrote the rules down before the mint and locked them.
@TheMutualFun
That’s all from me. You know where to find me.
i was going through active listings for rare @OthersideMeta resources and caught myself on one thought …
right now nobody believes in Otherside, nobody believes in the team, no hype. people are fading and they are just tired of waiting
and even in this mood, the listings are already thin. there are almost no clean buys sitting there
so what happens when they actually turn beta on, or when players get into their own deeds? 🤔
listings get thinner, not fatter, i don’t think this flips into a carnival of dumpers, most people who waited this long are not going to sell the deed the week the fee switch goes live, they will buy deed, set their tax, and collect every day
demand outruns supply, that part is not a theory. that is what thin books do when the product finally turns on
we’re finally can see what a Starpod actually looks like
part home, part lander, part your personal ship, in alpha everybody gets the base version, no upgrades, no custom, just a clean test of the system
and the important part: this is not how you haul a stack of resources across long distance, that is a different ship - Starhauler
Starpod is recon, land on a deed, get out, come back, not a truck
so when we start pulling the first resources off Yuga deeds, the first thing you grind is the Starpod - speed, survivability, how it holds when the route stops being a stroll
