@ninaleecatholic Those seven books were not originally considered scripture by the early church. In the 4th century the church officially canonized the 66 books of inspired scripture which many church fathers had agreed upon.
Those extra 7 were considered apocryphal texts not scripture.

@traveldoc26 If we believe scripture is the inspired word of God, logic would follow that it has the final or sole authority as does God, since it is His word. There are traditions and they aren't all bad but they should not contradict scripture if they do, we should not practice them.

@ShaneSchaetzel The catholic church started referring to them as deuterocanonical and relating them to scripture after the reformation as a sort of counter to the reformation. From what I have read the orthodox church is much more lax on standard and even differs from local churches within.

@ShaneSchaetzel Maybe but even before the protestant reformation the catholic church had 66 books of true scripture with apocryphal books added in the same physical book. Most of the early church fathers understood the 66 were agreed as holy scripture inspired by God and the others were not.

I do find it interesting that they brought the prime vandal reload back out to copy and paste on this one though.
