Valmiki never wrote "harem pet" or "furniture cover." Just as he never said Sita calls Rama a “misogynist pig.”

Here's what the text says.
On the living deer, Aranya Kanda 3.43.16:
अन्तःपुरविभूषार्थो मृग एष भविष्यति
antaḥpura-vibhūṣārtho mṛga eṣa bhaviṣyati

"This deer will be an ornament of the inner palace." Not “harem.” Sita is talking about after the exile, when they're back in Ayodhya. The word is vibhūṣā, ornament. It's a marvel to bring home to Bharata and the queen mothers. It isn't a "pet," and it isn't a harem plaything. We also know that Rama never took another wife, let alone kept a harem.

On the slain deer, 3.43.19:
शष्पबृस्यां विनीतायामिच्छाम्यहमुपासितुम्
śaṣpa-bṛsyāṃ vinītāyām icchāmy aham upāsitum
"I wish to sit on its golden skin, spread over a seat of tender grass." A bṛsī is an ascetic's grass seat. She's a forest-dweller in exile, picturing herself sitting beside Rama. That isn't upholstery or a "furniture cover." Rama even pictures the same scene himself a few verses later (3.43.34).

So "harem pet" and "furniture cover" aren't translations. Each one picks the most lurid or trivial reading available so that Sita comes off as decadent and vain. The text doesn't support either.

We've seen this before. In 2018 Truschke "loosely translated" Sita at the agnipariksha as calling Rama a "misogynist pig." Robert Goldman, the translator she cited, disowned it.

She starts from a Sanskrit word, takes the most loaded English you can find, and presents it as scholarship. That's academic malpractice.

And it’s a pattern.

📅 WHEN: Tests completed Jun 2025; LPG filled & operational later in 2025

🎯 WHAT IS THIS?
Instead of storing LPG in big tanks above ground, India now stores it in giant man-made caves deep inside solid rock. It's safer, protected and acts as an emergency reserve.

📊 KEY FACTS
• Capacity: 80,000 metric tonnes, India's largest
• Only India's 2nd LPG cavern, after Visakhapatnam (60,000 MT)
• Two storage chambers dug deep below sea level in hard granite-type rock
• Built using the "drill & blast" method
• Dug beneath an existing LPG plant, saving land
• Cost: ~₹854 crore (reported)

💧 HOW THE WATER CURTAIN WORKS
• Tunnels above & around the cavern are filled with water
• Water seeps into cracks in the surrounding rock
• This water pressure is kept higher than the gas pressure inside
• So gas can't escape outward; water pushes in instead
• Result: a natural "hydraulic seal" with no steel lining needed

⚡ WHY IT MATTERS
• India imports most of its LPG, much of it via the Strait of Hormuz
• A buffer stock helps during supply shocks, like the LPG shortage seen in March 2026
• Underground = safer from fire, accidents, weather & attack
• Receives imports via New Mangalore Port; supplies Karnataka, Telangana & beyond

🙋 SHOULD THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT BUILD SUCH TYPE OF FACILITIES?
✅ The case for:
• India's total LPG storage covered only ~21 days of demand (2025)
• Just 2 LPG caverns in the whole country
• Safer & longer-lasting than surface tanks, using less land
• Fits India's existing strategic crude oil caverns at Vizag, Mangaluru & Padur

⚠️ The catches:
• Needs solid, crack-free rock near a port, so only some sites work
• Costly & slow to build
• A cavern helps only if it's kept full, and stocking it costs money
• Must go with diversifying suppliers beyond the Gulf

👉 Our view: Yes. More LPG caverns on both coasts, with a clear policy to keep them filled, would give India real breathing room in the next supply shock. HPCL is reportedly eyeing one at Vadodara.

Energy reserves are a quiet part of national security. With West Asia unstable and Hormuz shipping restricted, every extra day of LPG stock matters.
