media literacy is dead. apparently we can’t accept something that’s implied unless it’s fed to us like babies. you could watch a character bleed out onscreen and stop moving and say “wow… he died” and some guy will reply to you saying “well.. it’s not confirmed he’s dead”
2024 was a wild one. lots of travel, applied to postdocs, finished my PhD, backpacked Isle Royale, started my fellowship at LANL, but saved the best for last: got engaged to the love of my life
I made an egg roll stew for this week and it is sooooo so good and comforting. It occurred to me after grocery shopping that fried wonton strips would be a good garnish so if you have them, use them! But alas, I did not. Happy souping!
while haiti is in the news so much this week maybe we should all take a moment to discuss the fact that their economic destitution is entirely due to being forced to spend ~80% of their federal budget every year for 150 years on reparations to france for freeing the slaves
