Opinion | The constant barrage of stories that focus only on wrongdoing, when left unchecked by ones that celebrate the many valuable contributions, serve only to unfairly fan the flames of distrust. https://t.co/1kSvrvSE9Q
The Massachusetts Coalition of Police submitted written opposition to the parole of Jose Colon, who is the convicted murderer of Trooper George Hanna. People who murder police officers should never see the street again, but in this case we have an individual who continues to defy society's rules and has proven why he should not be eligible for release. #NeverForget
The @bostonbruinsfoundation is giving a portion of proceeds from the current 50-50 raffle to the family of our member Officer Stephen LaPorta from the Uxbridge Police Department who tragically gave the ultimate sacrifice this week protecting his community. Thank you to everyone that attended @100clubmass 's Brewery event in Waltham last night! We’re so grateful to each of you who came out, spent time with us, and helped make the day such a great success. Your support and enthusiasm remind us why our community is so strong — and why standing behind the families of our fallen heroes matters so much.
NAPO is appalled by the purported statements of Virginia Attorney General candidate Jay Jones regarding the killing of police officers. It is disgusting for anyone, let alone a public official, to state that if more cops were killed there would be less officer involved shootings. Our men and women in uniform are risking their lives day in and day out to protect our communities and this is the support they get from the person running for Attorney General? Mr. Jones is unfit to hold any public office.
Thank you to @MassCOPUnion for welcoming @100clubmass at the 2025 Annual Convention. Executive Director Tracie Hines was honored to speak — and grateful for the chance to connect with so many friends and new supporters. We are here tomorrow too! Stop by our table.
Massachusetts Coalition of Police Vice President John Nelson traveled to New York City today to honor @NYPDnews Officer Didarul Islam, who gave his life for his community on Monday during an active shooter incident. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Islam's family and friends, as well as our brothers and sisters of the New York Police Department and the @NYCPBA.
Such an incredible program that serves youth from a number of our member communities. Thank you to @msosheriff Peter Koutoujian and his staff for bringing together law enforcement and young residents from our communities. This partnership builds trust and understanding that is paramount to developing lasting relationships. #communitypolicing
110 cadets from Burlington, Lexington, Newton/Waltham, and Tyngsborough enjoyed an incredible week of learning and fun at this week's Youth Public Safety Academy! Three more exciting weeks to go for cadets from across the county! #YPSA25
Are you a veteran and work in public service? You have until August 8, 2025 to buyback military service time. We do not want one of our members to miss out on this one time opportunity to purchase time if you missed the deadline previously. MassCOP worked diligently with our partners at PERAC, the Governor's Office, and the Legislature, in creating this opportunity. Please do not procrastinate. Call your local retirement board today if you are eligible.
Proud to have Chuck DiChiara as one of our members. His understanding and ability to train others on Use of Force and other topics is incredibly valuable to our profession.
MPTC's Chuck DiChiara served as a guest speaker for Southern Police Institute’s 5-day seminar in Louisville. He shared insights on Use of Force & Lessons Learned. He was honored to stand alongside speakers from Sandy Hook Elementary Shooting and the Boston Marathon Bombing.
Today, we solemnly honor the memory of Sgt. Michael C. Chesna, who made the ultimate sacrifice seven years ago on July 15, 2018. A dedicated Weymouth Police officer, U.S. Army veteran, and beloved husband and father, his courage and service will never be forgotten. We also remember Vera Adams, whose life was tragically taken that day. Our hearts are with their families, our brothers and sisters of the Weymouth Police Department, and the entire community. #NeverForget #SgtChesna
