Pride is important because somewhere there is a kid who has been told they are meant to be straight and is wearing a straight jacket their whole life.

When they see us thriving, living a beautiful life, loving who we want, being who we want, dressing how we want, existing how we like, they can be themselves. They can escape the hell they have faced. The bullying and harassment from their parents, their peers, their friends, the people around them who were taught hatred and bigotry.

We will never stop celebrating Pride no matter how much you try to stop us.

That is actually the reason we celebrate. Because you are trying to stop us. The more you push the more present we will be in your lives until it is normalised.

Have you not understood that yet.

You have been trying to stop us for fifty years. It is not working. It never will. You cannot stop us existing and thriving. You cannot stop us being ourselves no matter what laws or torture or death penalty you put on us.

We will be here when you are gone.

You will die failing to erase us because being LGBTQIA+ is part of humanity.

We always will be.
