@BesmahTepagende I also think the lack of authenticity created this idea that it was interior, taking something an artist put their heart into and changing it to make it acceptable for conservative artists created this feeling of "cheap" versions of the original rock songs
@tajsquires I agree that we can't discredit it completely, It was still a major pat of music history. I think the problem comes when talking about the authenticity and how these covers do not always do justice to the original emotions behind the songs #S22POPMUS
I think the idea behind schlock is that when artists are creating these "clean" version of songs they aren't taking into account the emotions that went into the original songs, it doesn't mean they lack talent, just the understanding behind the song itself #S22POPMUS
New technology does have it's upsides though as it gives people new ways to listen to their music. There are dozens of streaming services with massive libraries, and headphones to suit everyone's preferences. #S22POPMUS
Stereotypes can also make it hard for people to find music that they actually enjoy listening to, lots of artist that don't fit into the idea of "trendy" can get buried and won't show up on places like Spotify Discover, or YouTube Explore #S22POPMUS
The way I engage with music is different now then when I was younger, I feel like I have to always have the newest headphones and listen to trending songs. It feels as though music is has become little more then vehicles for internet trends. #S22POPMUS
The way the music industry has turned into a game of who has more money takes away from the idea of music as an expression and turns it in another shallow measurement of personality that is used to judge a person's worth in society. #S22POPMUS
Putting stereotypes and social status together the bigger picture starts to look more like a game where people who can afford the newest gadgets, and listen to "the right music" are praised. It makes it hard for people to truly connect with music in a meaningful way.#S22POPMUS
Music is an integral part of life in every country, it would make sense that they way in which we engage with our music affects how we are seen in society. Girls that like rock are "weird" while boys who listen to Taylor Swift can be labelled as gay. #S22POPMUS
The technology people use to listen to music heavily influences the way we perceive people. A person that the newest, or most expensive, headphones will be seen as a higher social status, making people who use "cheap" earbuds feel inferior.#S22POPMUS
