A group of women in Kano has launched a women-only tricycle transport service called “Mata Zalla.”

The initiative introduces special Keke Napep operated exclusively by women and designed to serve only female passengers.

The organisers say the service is aimed at creating a safer and more comfortable transport option for women, while also providing economic opportunities for female riders. Fares on the Mata Zalla tricycles are also said to be cheaper than regular keke services operating in the city.

“Mata Zalla,” which translates roughly to “Women Only,” is expected to operate on selected routes within Kano and will be driven entirely by trained female operators.
