To achieve our National Cancer Strategy target, to be within the top 25% of EU countries for five year survival rate for all cancers by 2026, we need to focus on advanced and metastatic cancer care. The five-year survival rate for metastatic cancer in Ireland is only 10%.

1/2 This month is #OvarianCancerAwarenessMonth. The #Mater is home to one of the largest gynaecological oncology departments in Ireland and offers innovative treatments to patients diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Breakthroughs in treatment options and surgeries over the past decade now mean that advanced cancer can be treated; the life and especially the quality of life, of a patient can be improved significantly, and even, on occasion, the patient can be cured completely.
