Malden Public Schools Math Coach. My hobbies are my kids, education, and running...mostly in that order, but sometimes my kids are loud, so that’s why I run.
Flipping the "I do, we do, you do approach" to teaching mathematics in favor of student-centered learning. Visit https://t.co/zPSLhZqgjk for a free PDF version of this post. #mtholyokemath#MTBoS#teaching
Thank you to Peirce alum and Meteorologist @MaureenMcCann13 for joining our first graders for a virtual assembly this morning! We loved learning about the science behind weather and your journey from Peirce School to the weather desk!

Update: We have received our grade four chrome books and will have them ready for distribution on Friday September 25 from 8 am to 6 pm. We are awaiting devices for grades kindergarten through three and will be distributing learning packets.
I look forward to seeing you.
So if trainings that promote anti-racism “undercut America’s core values,” that would mean that racism is one of America’s core values...? They’re not even trying to hide it at this point. https://t.co/10McaBRwpa
Claims of "learning loss" (or "slide") when kids aren't in school tend to be repeated uncritically by reporters, alarming parents. My take on this issue in an article published today in the Boston Globe: https://t.co/Zeuvg0Lk7z
It doesn't take much to be a great virtual teacher...
Just top notch tech, multiple devices, an understanding of every online resource, a spare room to turn into a classroom, professional lighting, mics, props, a production crew, the CGI team from Marvel studios... that's it.
How was this not brought to my attention in the spring? I’m gonna be singing in my head (and often out loud) every meeting that someone brings up synchronous from here on out!
More Collaborations, Less Silos
We waste ALOT of time duplicating efforts (i.e. pacing guides, identifying standards, creating centers, developing interventions, etc...) in mathematics education. We are more effective & stronger working together.

Today, Peirce welcomes our new principal, Andrew Ahmadi! The Peirce flamingos and many Peirce families got together to welcome him to our “flock”! We are excited to work with Mr. Ahmadi and to see how he helps our children and community grow!
