@MthunziMaisela @CoolLood @FabAcademic @vote_checker No, she’s saying the main issue is we will effectively be paying 13.3% more VAT on items, so it is not a “mere 2% increase”. For example if your current VAT on an item was R100, the new VAT after the increase will infact be R113.30, not R102.

GEPF is a risk pool providing guaranteed benefits (like insurance), the pension is sitting in a pool of funds meant to pay pensions to all members but only if they are alive. If you die then the money stays in the pool to fund those who live longer.

Even if you’re alive for 40years after retirement you’ll still receive a pension. But if you die there’s no payout.

@NJames_LS @npm_run_serve It’s not even just the basic that gives it away, if you look at all the YTD figures they are 6 months times the figures under “current month” except for tax. If he paid R40k tax per month for past 6 months the YTD figure should be around R240k, and not R157k.
