@CanaryMugume It’s because he has been affected. He was in Congo recently and I think Trump has barred him from going to New York to lobby for money.😂😂
@I_Rugambwa@ssojo81 The guy is ignorant and this can’t be forgiven anymore given that we have so many AI tools that can help someone before they come to spew ignorance.
@I_Rugambwa Yes, there is a misconception that most people have. They think that Uganda’s citizenship by birth is interpreted the same way as that of USA, Mexico or Canada who give automatic citizenship by just being born on their territory.. Irrespective of your parents’ citizenship status.
Tanzania, 🇿🇲 Zambia, and 🇿🇦 South Africa have the same National Anthem. The difference is in the translations to the official language of each country.
It’s also clear most Ugandans don’t differentiate between passports & citizenship. Most think abandoning a passport of a country is the same as giving up citizenship. Some Ugandans in diaspora claim to have denounced Ugandan citizenship but flock NIRA events to get National IDs.
@christianahumuz@Johnblanshe_m 😂 I didn’t say that anywhere. I have applied for a Ugandan visa and other Ugandan immigration benefits for several people as part of my mandate where I work. So, be assured I am privy to Uganda’s immigration laws💯
@christianahumuz@Johnblanshe_m to continue staying in Uganda with the parents who will also use the birth certificate to apply for a dependent pass (one of the residency permits you are talking about).
@christianahumuz@Johnblanshe_m The only exemption are babies born to foreigners for example if an international student couple at Makerere gives birth. Such a child isn’t a citizen of Uganda but also the students’ country hasn’t given the child citizenship. Such a child will use an Ugandan birth certificate…
@RamahKizito Never! They are all lying about denouncing those citizenships. First of all the cost involved & the trade off doesn’t make sense. All of them currently have families there. So from not requiring visas to visit your country to having to wait for Ebola to end for embassy to open?😂
@IvanMuganga5 Now you people are talking a lot and bringing more problems for the Dr. Do you want people to go into what it takes for one to get a Rwandan passport or you think he just walked in and they stamped and gave him. Let the Dr.’s official publicists speak not everyone.
African immigrants in Canada or U.S. lose everything including time and the only thing left to cling on is attaining citizenship. You ask someone, why can’t you go back to Uganda? They reply, nkyalinze mpapula. The last thing such a person can do is to denounce that citizenship.
@tonykentkyazze@TonyNatif@ReachDrMuganga For the vetting committee, I don’t understand how they weren’t convinced. Dr. Muganga stated in his interview at parliament that he is willing to denounce any other citizenship in order to serve fatherland. “No place or citizenship is better than being Uganda” he said.
@tonykentkyazze@TonyNatif@ReachDrMuganga In USA, the constitution has such a limit on the presidency but this is about where an American was born. You must have been born on US soil to stand for U.S. Presidency. In this case, even if Mamdani is such a great guy and becomes prominent, he will never stand for Presidency.
