More than 100 @EMBOFellows are meeting in Heidelberg. The postdoctoral fellows present their research, attend a mentoring session, receive training on a variety of topics and more. #EMBOat60
Third of the year and the biggest review article now out!
Massive effort from @MeganChastney, Jasmin Kaivola, Veli-Matti Leppänen & @johannaivaska! Discover all about integrins in migration, invasion and cancer right here: https://t.co/0WaY8mtFm5
Congratulations to the team 🥳!
New pre-print! @Follain_Ga and team develop a super cool pipeline to work out the intricacies of immune and PDAC cell adhesion to HUVECs and extravasation under flow. Fantastic collab with @guijacquemet lab and @SalmiLab. Congrats🥂

Currently at the microphysiological systems workshop in Cargèse, learning cool stuff about organoids and organs-on-chip, and enjoying the beautiful landscapes 🤩 Looking forward to present my poster tomorrow ! #microphysio2024@IES_Cargese
Super excited to share our preprint from my #PhD work @CRUK_SI on how #metabolism of micrometastatic cells influence #sEVs to generate invasive microenvironments. Huge thanks to @CassieJClarke & Jim for the amazing supervision and all our collaborators for their invaluable input!
Mathilde Mathieu @MathildeMthu, Aleksi Isomursu @aisomursu and Johanna Ivaska @johannaivaska@UniTurku review our current understanding of context dependency in durotactic migration.

It's so cool that @J_Cell_Sci plants a tree for every paper they publish 🌳 ours is apparently a silver birch!
Positive and negative durotaxis – mechanisms and emerging concepts

Check out our durotaxis review if you want to know more about positive and negative durotaxis in single cell and collective migration, their mechanisms and related computational models!
I had a great time at the @Official_BSCB@BiochemSoc ECF cell migration conference, seeing cool science and meeting great people! I am getting a little vibe of Birmingham 🇬🇧 before heading back to Turku 🇫🇮
Check out the cool recent review from @DibusMichal@Omkar_Joshi_ and @johannaivaska highlighting emerging tools in cell adhesion research, now published in COCEBI!

Ivaska Lab is at The 90th Harden Conference!! Mathilde, Megan and Omkar (R-L in the pic) are presenting exciting recent work on Posters # P56(Mathilde), P41(Megan) and P42(Omkar). If you're around, come say hi!
#BiochemEvent#ECF2024
We are all at the @BioscienceTurku winter science day and (later) party! Thanks @MathildeMthu for representing us and showcasing our highlights from 2023! And thanks to the organisers! There are some strong contenders in the gingerbread competition. This one is ours :)
Our latest work with @jonna_alanko, @sarahdezperez, @mattilalab and others is out! We established a new method for dynamic micropatterning (dynamic control over cell size, shape and cell-substrate interactions). Key takeaways below. | https://t.co/XcO1WP8ofA 1/5
@IvaskaLab James Conway et al., demonstrate: increased number of (integrin) clutches enables cell spreading and adhesion signaling on soft when cells are able to engage multiple ECM ligands | PNAS https://t.co/4zYQPUVWPw great collab with @MisvikB@aisomursu@Follain_Ga
I'm very thankful to @johannaivaska and @aisomursu for letting me participate to this great project! I am now continuing the work and hope to make other interesting discoveries about negative durotaxis 🤩
The Elias Tillandz Prize was awarded to two outstanding research articles, which involved a mechanism related to the migration of cancer cells and a new analysis of a grave dating back to the early Middle Ages.
Congratulations! 🏆
