🎉HAPPY INTERNATIONAL ALBINISM AWARENESS DAY 2026🎉
Today I join the rest of the world to commemorate the International Albinism Awareness Day under the theme "Proudly My Skin". This theme speaks to lived realities that us as people with albinism live with from the day we are born to the day we die. Despite lack of melanin in the skin, hair and eyes we are whole. My skin is part of me and my identity. Against social constructs, beliefs, myths and misconceptions that has haunted albinos as a result of our skin leading to harmful practices, we rise to voice out, speak out and educate society that we are one. Diversity is not a mistake. It is part of God's creation and the beautiful design of our universe.
Yet while we fight ignorance and stigma, another battle continues silently. Skin cancer continue to take lives of our brother's and sisters prematurely. For us access to sunscreen and protective clothing is a human right issue. I have personally experienced the effects of unprotected exposure to the sun especially during my childhood. My skin became a source of pain, barrier to enjoy life like other kids and psychological trigger due mocking and name calling that came with it.
This is the reason why l stand up to be counted among those putting up a fight against skin cancer even with zero resources, will is stronger. As people we cant continue to loose loved ones due to skincancer, a preventable and a preventable disease. Personally l have witnessed 32 patients due in our care due to advanced nature of their cancers. It cant continue lets join hands to fight this.
To my beloved government of Zimbabwe, please l know you are overwhelmed by government wide budgetary demands. Our ask is this , the World Health Organization last year reinstated the sunscreen back on the Essential Medicines List, l therefore plead you to align our customs regulations to this monumental resolution. Our skin health matters, we can only be full proud our skin when we we are not penalised for even attempting to protect it. Allow us to import sunscreen without payment of duty. Declassify it from the cosmetics list that pays customs duty. Parliament of Zimbabwe and other government agencies lets work together to come up with the National Action Plan on Albinism, a legal framework that will assist government to include and mainstream albinism in its planning.
Always remember any one of us is a carrier of the albinism gene and tommorow might be you who will have a child or family member with albinism. Lets act not to ensure that we make skin healthcare accessible to all PWA regardless of location, status and diversity.
My name is Queen of BaTonga, the only white bone who speaks unapologetically speaks venac, daughter of the BaTonga Royal Tribe, blood of the Zambezia and the Nyaminyami ancestral lineage. A proud fearless fighter for the human rights of people with albinism in and beyond Zimbabwe. My skin my pride, my identity.

Good morning Zimbabwe, my humble apologies for failing to give you an update about how the Surgical Camp went yesterday.
Firstly l would like to thank and appreciate @MoHCCZim, @TNHZ_Trust@globalcleft1 ,@Nyaradzo_Group , @jbcorporatex for making this life saving medical intervention possible. This was one intense outreach we have ever done.
A total of 57 persons with albinism with varrying cancerous lesions presented their cases in including one with ocular albinism. These patients came from mostly rural districts in Masvingo as far as Mwenezi, Chiredzi ,Bikita etc. While they were visibly in pain we fellowshiped and shared experiences to uplift one another despite the situation they are faced with.
Our well structured medical teams from @globalcleft1 worked very hard into the night peforming 06 major surgeries involving various procedures taking as much as upto 3 hours. Most importantly l want to pay tribute to two particular @MoHCCZim nurses (RGN Mudzviti and Taguta) who worked so so hard during this clininc assisting patients and families, dai mukavarangarirawo nema promotions Minister @dr_douglas.
Zimbabwe while we achieved what we did in Masvingo, there is still a huge need in that province based on the data we have. Ngiyabonga to all who continue to support us, as this work needs a lot of support and solidarity. Even if we have $0.00 l am faithful our next one in Harare and Mutare this August is going to be successful. Ngiyabonga 🙏
Cancer has ravaged far too many young people in Zimbabwe over the past few years. Doctors have not been spared. Natasha is a vibrant medical student who has unfortunately been stricken by cancer. She needs lifesaving medication which is expensive. Please help by donating to this worthwhile cause. Let's save a doctor.💗

This is the reality of most African countries, and we need a solution: it is difficult to export goods from Africa to the rest of the world, but it is easier to import from other countries.
This week the paediatric surgeons at Parirenyatwa helped a little patients with cancer in BOTH kidneys. Wilms tumor is one of the commonest cancers in children and usually affects one kidney. Paediatric surgeons, Dr Muparadzi and Dr Moyo led a team of specialists who managed to perform a nephron sparing operation on one kidney and a radical nephrectomy on the other kidney. This highly specialized operation, the first of its kind at Parirenyatwa Hospital, ensures that the child is free from cancer but still has enough normal kidney tissue to be able to survive without requiring dialysis. Although cancer is a devastating diagnosis for any family, with the proper care, children are able to recover and be cured. Hats off to the surgeons, anaesthetists and nursing staff at Parirenyatwa. And thank you to our friends, @KidsOperating for equipping the children's theatre at Parirenyatwa. Lives are being saved in this theatre.

Please retweet, the solution might be on your timeline. 6yrs ago, I started @YanayaLifestyle with a simple idea,
which grew through wins, mistakes, and people who believed in us. Our smoothies became our best-selling product, so I took a risk and built a factory to bottle them.
Good morning from Mutoko
A common question I usually get:
"When will my trees start bearing fruit?"
Being Grafted, it means they already bear fruit. However, it takes 3 to 4 years for the tree to get to a decent size.

In the spirit of giving and an agenda of access to fruit, we are doing a tree giveaway promotion to 50 lucky people in Harare!! Like, retweet and follow if you already dont. Special consideration to anyone who can quote this tweet with a funny fruit or nut joke 😁 🇿🇼
Today we were pleased to receive the Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland to Zimbabwe His Excellency Austin Gormley and his wife Mrs Krassi Gormley
Last season we exported over 100 tons of Mange Tout and Sugar Snap peas to the republic of Ireland
We were happy to show him our office and facilities, and we shared some light moments of laughter
@kumindafresh@fairmark_
Reality and impact of the WAR on us and our small scale farmers.
Our blueberries are bearing fruit although still in small volumes, but our Mange Tout and Sugar Snap peas are full on in 3 weeks!
Many airlines are forced to reroute, suspend, or reduce flights.
Exporting from Zimbabwe we face:
• increase in air freight cost to double or triple in the short-term
• war risk surcharges
• limited air cargo lift
• unstable schedules
Global air cargo has dropped by 22% since early March.
In a country where $150 is an entire salary, these guys need to be serious. A man would NOT keep crying online of you treated him with dignity and aware that $150 is life or death in Zimbabwe. It’s rent not paid. It’s being treated or turned away from hospital.
@EcoCashZW need to be serious mhani
Harvest Update! 🥑🇿🇼
Harvest has officially begun on a trial plot of Pinkerton avocados, and the early signs are very encouraging. The fruit quality is looking strong, and we’re pleased to see the first container already on its way to European markets.
Trial blocks like this play an important role in helping us assess varietal performance, and strengthen our export offering.
