Zelensky could have avoided provoking this war altogether if he had agreed to implement the Minsk agreements in December 2019 - the very issue at the heart of his meeting with Putin in Paris, mediated by Macron and Merkel.

But at that meeting, Zelensky decided to double-cross Putin on the spot for the first time. Let me remind you that, by December 2019, Ukraine had already agreed to implement the Minsk agreements, and Zelensky had come to Paris to sign the final document formalizing that deal.
