@jacnive@Dejure_tee@Mditshwer Fair point, but everything is a gamble. You might not even finish building back home too. I’d rather risk a JHB bond on an asset with income potential. If I win, it works for me. If I fall, JHB gives me a chance to bounce back. Rural can become a liability dressed as security.
@Dejure_tee@Mditshwer I hear you, a home in the rural areas gives emotional security but if things go south financially it may not help you recover. A JHB property can still house you, be rented out, Airbnb’d or sold. That’s also peace of mind.
@Mditshwer I get the “build at home first” mindset, but to me peace of mind isn’t just having somewhere to run to. It’s owning something that can still work for you when things go south. A rural house can be a dead asset if it brings no income. In JHB, at least you can rent, Airbnb or sell.
