Catchment Manager for @EnvAgency in Essex. I work on river improvement, partnership projects & incident response. 0800 807060 to report incidents please.
Our Fisheries Enforcement Officers conducted joint patrols with @EssexPoliceUK and @AnglingTrust volunteer bailiffs.
Out of the 70 Anglers checked, 13 were reported for not having rod licenses.
Please report any illegal fishing to our 24/7 incident hotline at 0800 807060.
We have been at @spainsestate to see an additional 4 beavers be released as part of a partnership project that begun in 2019.
The beavers help with flood risk, drought and more.

It was great to grab some aerial shots this week with @EnvAgencyAnglia colleagues of the release site in one of the new #beaver enclosures at @spainsestate. Really looking forward to how this scene will change in the coming months and years. #wetland#nfm#nature
Four years ago the first #beavers were released into their enclosure at @spainsestate. The results were so positive, a broad range of partners joined and allowed us to scale up from 4 hectares to a staggering 40 hectares. Here is one of today's new arrivals.
It was a great way to spend one of our Environmental Outcome Days. We have two each year to help with environmental projects in the local community. I ached a bit for a couple of days after this one! π
Officers in Essex have been planting a native hedge with @GroundControlGC
at the WildFell Centre, Wethersfield.
The hedge will work as a wildlife corridor between the River Pant and nearby woodland #Nature#Trees
An amazing piece of equipment that allows us to safely carry out maintenance on tricky slopes. I would love to have a go, but sensibly I am kept well away from things like this! #LeaveItToTheExperts π
Have you seen our robo flail? π
It is a remote control lawn mower that we are using to cut Alexanders and grass on flood banks.
Alexanders smother the grass on sea walls leaving them vulnerable to damage and erosion. We use this device to ensure staff safety. #Flood#Safety
Today I made the trip from #Essex to the #Bure catchment in #Norfolk. I was there to help a colleague capture some video to share from a #wetland and #river improvement project she has worked on with @East_England_NT. More info soon!
Exciting to think this field will soon be transformed into something more like this wetland by the @spainsestate#beavers! Great to see progress today⦠and the rain eventually stopped @MattButcherEA@MattMWater @PlaceServices
Donβt let flooding catch you out!
Prepare in advance to keep yourself and others safe.

It was great to be on site today with Chris from @GroundControlGC and two of our super-keen apprentices, Amy and Marbel. We are planning to create a small #wetland and restore hedging as a part of the broader work Chris is leading at #Wethersfield π
@jens_thread They are a bit elusive unless you hang around for a few hours after dark, and even then no guarantee. I can confirm from experience it can just be a slightly creepy, lonely evening in the woods! π
My favourite action shot from @spainsestate yesterday. Once the posts are in, the contractors can place & fix several of these 100m lengths of fencing per day. About 5000m in total to keep the latest #EssexBeavers in their new home in a few months! Great #partnership project. π
@Al__S We have seen no evidence of this in the initial pilot site, and in fact the habitat the beavers create should massively enhance biodiverstiy and help wildlife.
