These results should prompt RainWise to implement them to study their effectiveness and allow more people to use the program. This research can also be useful for other GSi incentive programs to increase marine and public health by reducing stormwater pollution. #POEcap (6/6)
Overall, the takeaways from my project to increase equity is to tailor outreach to disadvantaged communities, expand eligibility and coverage of RainWise, talk directly to landlords to help interested renters, and switch the rebate to a grant. #POEcap (5/6)
I learned that the rebate model is inherently inequitable, especially with the expensive project costs. Some solutions both groups came up with were to tailor outreach to disadvantaged communities, expand the eligibility of RainWise, and talk directly to homeowners. #POEcap (4/6)
During the summer, I interned with Sustainable Ballard to do outreach for the RainWise Rebate Program. In addition, I did independent research, doing qualitative interviews with 12 customers and four community organizers. #POEcap#twitterpresentation (3/6)
Disproportionately, white and higher-income homeowners use the rebate, leaving disadvantaged communities behind, as shown in the graphs of prospects. The aim of my project is to find opportunities to increase equitable participation and access to RainWise. #POEcap (2/6)
Seattle's stormwater sewer allows stormwater and sewage to overflow into our waterways, harming marine and public health. Luckily, RainWise is a great program that provides rebates to install rain gardens and cisterns to reduce stormwater overflow. #POEcap (1/6)
Can't wait to present my research tonight. For those that can attend the Capstone Symposium tonight at 4:30pm, I'll be presenting in breakout room #10.
My prediction about the Seattle City Council election results is…
AT LEAST ONE OF THE RACES WILL BE DECIDED BY LESS THAN 100 VOTE, SO TEXT YOUR FRIENDS TO GET THEIR BALLOTS IN!
They voted. The truck driver who punishment passed you voted. The lady who parked in the bike lane voted. The guy demanding more brick studies voted. Did you?
Scientists have only begun to uncover the extent of pollution from tires.
Recent research shows that particulate pollution from tires and brakes far exceeds pollution from tailpipes.

@UrbanistOrg At this point I think @SoundTransit has a pattern. Always late in the the dates and times they promised to get things finished. Whenever they say something is going to finished push it back a year or more to get the actual date it’s finished.
Are you serious???? I wonder how @SoundTransit is going to prevent these situations from happening. Seems like these issues happen weekly or bi-weekly.
Hot off the presses! @seattledot released the first draft of their Seattle Transportation Plan. Check out its ambitious map for potential new light rail expansion routes 👀
