Our community deserves better than bloated government, backroom politics, and endless interference in people’s lives. Local government should be transparent, restrained, accountable, and focused on serving residents … not managing them. There’s still room for liberty at the local level if people are willing to fight for it.
You don't have to oppose ICE to oppose this.
If the DOJ is seeking to unmask anonymous Americans because they criticized a government agency, that's a direct threat to free speech and the First Amendment. Government should investigate crimes, not political dissent. Today it's ICE critics. Tomorrow it's you.
@TubRorabaugh Me too.... LOL I've got a sitting incumbent who plans on running for reelection wanting me to run along side him (sort of like a slate), so perhaps that's a good sign?
Breaking news - I'm currently in the process of writing a book on why running as a Libertarian LOCALLY makes much more sense than running state wide and federally to lose to spread a message. This will obviously be a hot take and piss off some people. But the fact remains, if we keep running vanity campaigns that result in 1 - 3% max vote totals, what are we really accomplishing? Are we achieving "liberty in our lifetimes?" Are we actually making any progress towards reducing the size and scope of government? Are we growing membership, donors, and volunteers to support our candidates? These are all things that will be discussed at length with data to back it up. Stay tuned! #LocalLiberty
BREAKING: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will now have to appoint a new Senator to represent Florida with Marco Rubio expected to become Secretary of State.
The next Senate Majority Leader will be ... hugely disappointing. When @SenRickScott is being positioned as the best option, you might as well vote for Swamp Thing.
I was honored to run for the Florida State House, District 29, as a voice for liberty, individual rights, and a government bound by its proper limits. Representing a principled stand on behalf of libertarian ideals has been a privilege, and I want to thank everyone who supported this journey—those who donated, shared our message, or spent their valuable time advancing our cause. Your hard work and dedication have been invaluable, and I’m deeply grateful.
The reality is, we did not win this election. That outcome calls us to more than simply gratitude—it calls us to an honest assessment of where we succeeded and where we fell short. This is how we truly honor those who put their trust in us and lay the groundwork for future victories.
Over the coming weeks, my team and I will take a hard look at our campaign's strengths and shortcomings. For those who may have insights or critiques from the outside, I invite you to share them with us by email at [email protected]. Your input is invaluable.
Once our assessment is complete, we’ll share our findings with the state Libertarian Party and make them available to future liberty-minded candidates who seek to challenge the status quo.
Thank you, once again, to everyone who believed in this campaign, stood with us, and gave generously of their resources. It's been an honor to carry the torch for liberty in Florida.
In Liberty,
Matt Johnson
Early voting starts today! Let’s fight for lower taxes, less government overreach, and more freedom. Vote Matt Johnson for FL House District 29 and take back your rights!
Flooding from Hurricanes Helene & Milton isn’t just nature—it’s the result of reckless development, backfilled wetlands, and lack of infrastructure in Volusia County. Insurers are fleeing the state, leaving Floridians unprotected—all thanks to crony GOP policies. I’m Matt Johnson, and I’ll fight for real reforms that prioritize property rights, accountability, and free-market solutions.
@WESH reached out to my opponents and I for a debate. Myself and the Democrat in the race agreed we'd show up whenever they wanted to schedule it. The GOP Incumbent refused to respond. Why didn't the incumbent want to debate?
