@IanjhReynolds This really resonates. I’m actively searching for a business to acquire and have spent a lot of time thinking about leverage, downside protection and what can go wrong. But I hadn’t framed the SBA personal guarantee against venture equity this way.
You keep changing your external world, hoping you’ll finally feel okay inside.
More money. More time. Another achievement.
And when the same feelings return?
What were you hoping the next achievement would give you that the last one didn’t?
Certainly in the beginning you might think that money is the answer. After that, you might think that more time is the answer. After that, you might think, I simply need to care more for the physical vehicle, or I want to learn more. Then it's really just about acquiring skills, maybe they're productive skills, or maybe they're just for fun.
And then, at some point, you have to sit in a room and be able to live with yourself. At the end of the day, you would want to be able to sit with yourself and not suffer.
If you've checked some of those boxes I just described and you're still suffering, that says to me that something has been missed. Certainly I found myself, after checking a lot of those boxes, still suffering.
It doesn't mean you have to go through that process in that order. In fact, it's much more helpful to dedicate part of your practice and your energies to viewing the psycho-emotional health as a foundation for everything else. And paying more attention to that from the very beginning.
P.S. Compartmentalizing pain and rationalizing it sometimes works. But as I’ve said to a lot of my friends who will sometimes say, “I don’t want to deal with that. I don’t want to open up that Pandora’s Box,” I try to emphasize that, at least from my experience, no matter what, you *are* dealing with it. But you get to choose if you want to deal with it head-on in a proactive way. Or if you want to have these odd side effects leak out the edges, unbeknownst to you, subconsciously sabotaging you day to day.

The reason confidence issues persist isn’t because you’re not good enough.
It’s because you’ve never examined the beliefs underneath the doubt.
Update the internal operating system.
Confidence becomes natural.
You’ve got the title.
You’ve earned the trust.
You’ve been in the room.
But you still second-guess yourself in key moments.
If confidence was just about competence, you’d be set.
It’s not.
Here’s what’s actually going on and how to fix it: 🧵
That’s the internal operating system.
And when it’s running old programs…
like “I need to have the perfect answer”
or “They’ll think I’m not ready”
or “They have more years of experience than I do”...
then no amount of success will make you feel secure.
You’re doing all the right things…
but still feel stuck, unclear, or off track.
That’s not an external problem.
That’s an internal operating system problem.
Most professionals try to fix external problems with external solutions:
Read more books.
Work harder.
Ask for advice.
But if your mindset is the bottleneck, no amount of action will move you forward.
That’s what the Internal Operating System Audit is designed to uncover.
It’s a 1:1 strategy session where I walk you through a personalized breakdown of how you’re thinking, using a tool called The Reality Model.
We look at the beliefs, assumptions, and internal patterns shaping your current situation.
You’ll leave with:
- A clearer view of what’s really driving your stress or stagnation
- A reframe of the story keeping you stuck
- Specific shifts to move forward with clarity
It’s not traditional coaching.
It’s a diagnostic so you can see what’s actually running in the background.
And once you see it, everything changes.
