@sami34m@ImagesMatthew Fair point.. his primary role and profession is news not frisbee.. so the comparison isn’t a fair one. Just my immediate gut reaction.. carry on
Ok, I like Grok
Me: Is Isaac Saul a conservative or liberal?
Grok: Isaac Saul, the founder of Tangle, an independent, nonpartisan politics newsletter, does not neatly align with either the conservative or liberal label. His work focuses on presenting the best arguments from across the political spectrum—left, right, and center—while offering his own take, which he acknowledges is shaped by his personal experiences and biases. He has explicitly stated that he avoids identifying strictly as conservative or liberal, rejecting the premise of such binary categorization. For instance, in a discussion with historian Hyrum Lewis, Saul said he would respond to the question of whether he is left or right by rejecting it outright, suggesting that politics isn’t a single-issue spectrum.
Saul’s background and actions provide some clues but no definitive partisan lean. He has written for outlets spanning the ideological range, from The Huffington Post (typically left-leaning) to the Independent Journal Review (often right-leaning), and his reporting has been cited by both The New York Times and Fox News. His creation of Tangle in 2020 reflects a frustration with polarized media and a desire to bridge divides, which could suggest a centrist or pragmatic streak rather than a firm ideological camp. In his 2024 TED Talk, he emphasized how language choices signal political identity, further indicating his focus is on understanding and communicating across divides rather than advocating for one side.
That said, Saul has admitted to evolving political views over time, embracing nuance after seeing flaws in both left and right "tribes." He’s been critical of partisan excesses—like Jack Smith’s actions in the Trump case, which he called norm-breaking, or Trump’s election fraud claims—without pledging allegiance to either party. His audience and accolades, like the Shorty Awards for Tangle in 2024, highlight his appeal across political lines, not as a partisan figurehead.
So, is he conservative or liberal? The evidence suggests neither label fully fits. Saul seems to operate as a deliberate outsider to tribal politics, prioritizing independence and fairness over ideological loyalty. If you pinned him down, he’d likely say the question misses the point of his work.
@JennySkeel215 @philvischer Since Roe has been overturned by the Supreme Court, how does that change the case being made here?
The article is written on the basis of Casey and Roe being upheld which while true when it was written is a different circumstance than what we live in today.
@JennySkeel215 @philvischer The other two you mention have little to do with the funding for research studies and are more related to the practice of making the medical industry and for profit marketplace.
@dallasmavs Want to show love for these guys. Not their fault and at the end of the day. I’m a fan of the players not the front office.
Wishing these guys a strong welcome to Dallas amidst the circumstances
@sami34m Yikes.. hate that some people can’t identify that two things can be true at the same time.. what’s happening in Colorado with Deion is sick.
K-State got out with a win and the big 12 championship dream is alive. This is the most excited I’ve been for a K-State team since 2011
