My 50’s are by far the best decade of my life. My 30’s I spent accumulating money & stuff that breaks & rusts only to find out they didn’t bring me love or happiness. I lost my Mom & sister within 6 months in 08 when I turned 40. My early 40’s was about healing from loss & learning what real wealth is(Love). My late 40’s were about learning to bank financial capital, spiritual, emotional & physical capital. My 50’s have been about being me-being the best version of me. I have 5 wonderful kids, all truly smart. More importantly they are faithful, moral people. I have never been more in love with my wife. She is hotter to me at 54 than ever. I am loved by God-I am loved by my family & friends. I love you all. God’s blessing and peace be upon you all.

How to recover from a big drawdown

I recently had one conversation with a student about his problems in trading his account after a 25% drawdown.

This trader is based in Europe and trades the futures market and started talking about how his life changed when he started to trade for a living.

I just got rebuked by my wife. Left me explain.
On a walk I was bitching about politics. She stopped then proceeded to ask questions....
Wife: Why do you care? How does what happens in Europe impact you here and now? You keep telling me its a bull market in stupidity.......why are you not taking full advantage of this?
Me: But......{thinking.....}
Wife; You sound like my sisters complaining about everything. They are weak minded....you are proving to yourself you can be just as weak minded as them but in a different direction.
Me: Well wait a minute...
Wife: Your job it to be a Man, husband, father correct?
Me: Yes..But let me...
Wife: Your Job is to make money....for us, for our boys. You are suppose to understand (according to what you tell me) this BS and exploit it.....are you?
Me: Well....yes...I think so?
Wife: Who gives AF about all this political shit....you are being distracted from what you are suppose to be doing! Also...if the shit ever hits the fan you keep telling me we are good....are we?
Me: Yes
Wife: Then stop this shit....look after us, our boys and lead! Stop this garbage with the political BS....you are no different than my sisters if you keep this going & ....worse you are becoming like them but on a different scale.
Me: You are right
Wife: All that matters is taking care of us....do your job.
