OpenAI is adding text watermarks to ChatGPT and Codex in the EU.
But the watermark can't tell whether AI wrote your argument or just helped edit it.
That distinction matters before anyone uses a detector to accuse someone of cheating.
@simonw When a job hits the cap, save its progress and show what remains. Raising the budget should resume the work, not pay to start it all over again.
@theo The longer list has one easy-to-miss catch: old attachments don't transfer between providers. If you're switching for a second opinion on a screenshot, attach it again.
Space is cold. Cooling an AI chip there is still hard.
No air means no airflow to carry the heat away. Google is testing heat pipes and radiators instead.
The sunlight gets the headline. Getting rid of the heat is one of the tests that makes this flight worth watching.
Project Suncatcher has liftoff! ☀️🚀
Announced last year, this moonshot project explores if we can one day host machine learning infrastructure in space. After years of research, we’ve just launched a prototype satellite, built in partnership with @planet, into orbit on @SpaceX's Transporter-18 rideshare mission.
This initial mission will gather data on how @Google TPUs handle the physical stress and extremes of spaceflight. Ultimately, these findings will help us explore how to potentially link multiple satellite constellations for scaled machine learning. By operating in low Earth orbit, these systems can tap into near-constant sunlight to generate up to 8x more solar power than on Earth.
@khandrewone If you’re on Business or Enterprise, team tasks may fit that shared workflow: colleagues can edit the instructions together. Your personal dot can stay focused on your stuff.
AI watermarks are reaching the physical world.
Google DeepMind’s SynthID Bio is a proof of concept for tagging AI-designed proteins. In lab tests, the signature stayed detectable after the proteins were made, while preserving the functions tested.
“Was this AI-generated?” is becoming a question about molecules, too.
@thsottiaux The dots don't show while theyre working properly, especially on mobile, but desktop as well. There's no way to see if it's working or thinking. Still, it just sits there and you hope it's working in the background
