@macleod842@ArmySgtMajor They would need to recommended for promotion to Lance Corporal which generally takes about 3-4 years depending on which regiment/Corps they join. They wouldn't join as pilots but it's an option that's open to them should they want the opportunity to try.
@Jay6337@ArmyAirCorps Not a U turn just lowering the rank requirement to apply. Used to be LCpl now lowered to Pte. All NCO pilots when fully trained will be SNCOs when they arrive at their front line units.
The Army Air Corps is today announcing that the Minimum rank to become an Army helicopter pilot has been lowered to Private.
Soldiers from across the Army now have the opportunity to apply to become an Army helicopter pilot much earlier in their careers.
