Zlatan on GOLDEN BALL :
“They spent years calling Messi ‘FIFA’s boy,’ but when he produced another historic World Cup, suddenly the standards changed.”
“If Rodri wins the Golden Ball after a tournament where he barely decided games, then tell me what more did Messi have to do? Score, assist, lead, create, carry his nation again? That’s exactly what he did.”
“The World Cup Best Player award is for the player who defines the tournament, not for politics or popularity. If Messi doesn’t win it after performances like that, then football owes people an explanation.”
“People cried ‘FIFA protects Messi.’ Yet when he deserved the award the most, he was the one left empty handed. Football has a strange sense of irony.”
🚨🇦🇷 The Argentinian president, Javier Milei, has decided not to attend the World Cup final today.
He's not attending due to superstition, something very common among Argentina football fans when it comes to the World Cup.
🗣️ Milei: "I'm going to keep watching all the games from my home in Olivos.
I've been wearing the same jacket every game. The day of the Switzerland game, it made me really hot. I took it off, and they scored a goal against us. I put it back on and never took it off again."
🚨💣 @leoparadizo: “I've spoken to people very close to Julián Álvarez and they’re upset that, just 48 hours before the World Cup final, people from Atlético Madrid publicly commented on his situation.
"They believe it was done with bad intentions and the relationship is now even worse than it was before.”
🚨⚠️ Cuti Romero: “Lisandro and me, we were on fire before the game because of what Gary Neville said”.
“In England they love to speak before. We send him a big hug… I hope I’ll not be like him when I retire, I will NOT criticise players”, told @DSports.
🇦🇷🏴 XI CONFIRMADO ANTE INGLATERRA
👉 Este es el EQUIPO TITULAR elegido por Lionel Scaloni para la semifinal de la Copa del Mundo 2026.
⁉️ ¿Qué les parece?
@Betano_arg.
I'm just glad this rule was applied in the USA - Paraguay game first because if it was applied for an Argentina game first, we'd be on the verge of WW3 with people claiming they invented the rule on the spot.
Before England’s goal in minute 45+2 against Norway, the sensor in the Connected Ball showed no peak in the 'heartbeat of the ball' when in the air, and therefore no evidence that the ball touched the overhead wire and changed the movement of the ball.
🚨 Pierluigi Collina on the referee sending off Breel Embolo for simulation after determining there was no contact from Leandro Paredes:
🗣️ “From a refereeing perspective, this was the correct decision. The replay clearly shows there was no contact from Leandro Paredes, and the referee correctly identified an attempt to deceive.”
“Simulation is one of the actions the Laws of the Game are designed to discourage because it undermines fairness and places unnecessary pressure on match officials. Referees are expected to recognise these situations and act accordingly.”
“The fact that this occurred in a World Cup knockout match should not change how the laws are applied. Referees must have the confidence to make the correct decision regardless of the occasion or the players involved.”
“Because Embolo had already been cautioned, the second yellow card was the inevitable consequence of his actions. The responsibility ultimately lies with the player. Consistency and integrity are fundamental to refereeing, and I believe the officiating team demonstrated both in this incident.”
If you are on a yellow don’t dive. Simple. Anyone else saying otherwise is comical considering you probably have criticized flopping too. Can’t have your cake and eat it too.
