I think your analysis is right but your “next few weeks” timing feels off. You underestimate the inertia at big institutions. In my own case, to switch would require me going through tons of red tape at Baylor, IT approvals, Finance p-card sets, and a lot of time. I’m set up with Claude and 4.8 is good enough for now. Your paying your own bill so switching quickly is easy. You underestimate the friction at the enterprise level.
@AlexFinn I think you’re wrong about that. This is going to incentivize US based companies to offshore if the US government is going to interfere like this. What are they going to do when the next Gen above Mythos is ready?
@bcherny@BlissyOnX What I would love is if the main agent could clear its own context at a specified token threshold. I.e. recognize the threshold was crossed, finish open work, write itself a continuation prompt, hit /clear, then keep going. This would greatly allow me to use loops better.
Will 2031 be the end of the university as we know it?
As AI compresses the entry level work force, the great ‘bargain’ of going-into-debt to pay for college ‘so I can get a job’ is going to collapse.

I spent 100 hours over the past week researching, writing and editing the piece we just put out.
It’s a scenario, not a prediction like most of our work. But it was rigorously constructed, dismissing it outright requires the kind of intellectual laziness that tends to get expensive.
And we’ve released it for free. Hopefully you enjoy it.

I don’t understand why the US would provide security guarantees for Ukraine to end the war. Why can’t Europe protect its own? They have nuclear weapons. Keep us out.
