“Always a hoot” 🌹
On this day in 1995, the Grateful Dead played their final show ever. It was the second of two consecutive nights at Soldier Field in Chicago, with The Band opening each show. After closing with a rare double encore of ”Black Muddy River” and “Box of Rain,” the final notes rang out with a fireworks display set to Jimi Hendrix's "Star Spangled Banner,” lighting up the Chicago skyline. No one in the crowd realizing they'd just witnessed the band's last concert, but as we all know, the music never stops 🌹

“Brent’s passing came at a time where we were experiencing enormous show attendances and Brent was at his best. With ‘In the Dark,’ we had to start defending the shows. People were breaking in. It was 50,000 people inside, 50,000 outside…Brent was really cranking, and we were bringing a lot of the old stuff out – ‘Death Don’t Have No Mercy,’ ‘Attics of My Life.’ There was no pressure to reinvent. We were just being the Grateful Dead. And Jerry was feeling good. On this day in 1990, we lost Brent Mydland and remember him for what he became: forever a member of the Grateful Dead.” - Mickey Hart Remembering Brent Mydland on the anniversary of his passing today 🌹

I don’t think people understand what last night meant to me. It’s been a 17 year long road to get to this opportunity. It wasn’t a win, but super happy to have run Top 10 in my @NASCAR Truck Series debut.
So thankful for @BMR_NASCAR and all of their guys and gals at the shop!
The last song Brent Mydland sang with the @GratefulDead was a cover of The Band's "The Weight", ending with the line, "I got to go, but my friends can stick around."

To rock my soul.

If you’re wondering why I love CBB so much, it’s because the entire country rallies around a future Northwestern Mutual Agent absolutely cooking NBA lottery picks.
