Ever wondered if nuclear pore architecture and function changes during germ cell differentiation? In human spermatogenesis it does, and radically!!

๐ Finally out! ๐ Thrilled to share our work on the evolution, structure and membrane remodeling of Asgard ESCRT-III proteins! Congrats to all of our wonderful authors and collaborators ๐

๐จ New article alert! ๐จ
I wrote an article in @Nature about how anyone in a well-resourced lab can implement to democratise scientific resources and training worldwide. ๐๐งช

I have two job adverts open at the minute:
- A PhD position on fast MLIPs for biomolecules (https://t.co/06TAnh6kF2)
- A postdoc position on developing a universal molecular mechanics force field (https://t.co/VxvVfUbjiT)
Feel free to get in touch with questions.
@AdrianoAguzzi How about adding something like this to the author contribution section ?
"The authors agree that equally contributing authors appear in a random order and may swap their order. The 'equal contribution' designation shall remain intact and will not be removed."
After meiosis nuclear pore architecture changes drastically resulting in a reduced scaffold with only the inner ring present. We find that the poreโs central channel is highly constricted, slowing down nuclear diffusion, and that Ran dependent transport is severely perturbed!
This fascinating journey through sperm cell differentiation would not have been possible without the great collaboration with David Barford lab, @TomHale1040915, EM facility @gcannonii, and LM facility! Enjoy the read!!
Thanks to @royalsociety and @MRC_LMB, @lab_baum and I are looking for a student to develop the next generation of fluorescent proteins for live and super-resolution imaging, as part of the LMB's four-year PhD programme.
