Came with the highest expectations, but tonight @wigmore_hall exceeded everything. If @ErmonelaJaho in Suor Angelica was my Damascene conversion, then this was ascension into heaven. "E per udirti gl' angeli terran sospeso il vol" says it really all. Totally emotionally gripping!

The opera subsidy debate is fine and important. Interesting to note that the subsidy per medal won at RIO 2016 by GB + NI athletes was £4 million - or two and a half English Touring Opera years (autumn and spring season, and all their educational work) - per one medal. One.
