It’s #WorldPrematurityDay
Every year, 15 million babies are born too soon.
Too small. Too early. And far too vulnerable to life-threatening complications.
But with the right care, most preterm and low birth weight babies survive. They can go on to thrive and lead wonderful lives.
Let’s give every baby the best start in life – for healthier, #HopefulFutures https://t.co/NLKgQcHy75
It’s #WorldPrematurityDay
When preterm babies don’t get the care they need, we lose the chance to help them thrive.
Did you know? Some of history’s great minds and talents were #BornTooSoon.
It’s time to ensure every small and preterm baby gets the care they need! https://t.co/NLKgQcHy75
Today is #WorldPrematurityDay
Globally, 1 in 10 babies is born too soon – before 37 weeks of pregnancy. Complications relating to prematurity are the leading cause of child deaths.

A final piece of advice from Holly Butcher - written the day before she passed away from cancer at just 27:
“It’s a strange thing knowing you’re going to die young.
At 26, I thought I had time…
To fall in love.
Start a family.
Grow old.
But cancer doesn’t care about plans.
Now, I understand how fragile life really is. Every single day is a gift, not a guarantee.
I’m not writing this to scare you. I’m writing to remind you: really live.
Stop stressing over little things. Be kind to your body- move it, nourish it, stop criticizing it. One day you’ll wish you had appreciated it.
Go outside.
Look at the sky.
Feel the sun.
Just be.
Spend less time chasing “stuff” - more time making memories. Don’t skip moments with people you love.
Laugh more.
Write a note.
Tell someone you love them.
Complain less.
Give more.
Helping others brings more joy than anything you can buy.
Be present.
Put your phone down.
Show up - really show up.
You don’t need to have it all figured out. You don’t need a perfect body, or a perfect life.
Just follow what makes your heart light up. Say no to what drains you. Make changes when you need to.
And please - donate blood. I wouldn’t have had that extra year without it. And that year gave me memories I’ll hold close… forever.
Thank you for reading this.
Live your life well.
And maybe… we’ll meet again someday.”

Come say hi 👋and get more involved with our trust.
Chief nurse Julie Hamilton was on the ropes earlier today as one of the first daredevils to abseil down the Pears Building – all in aid of the @RoyalFreeChty.
Dozens of patients and staff are taking part in the challenge today and tomorrow to raise vital funds that will support our staff and patients.
Julie said: “It was an amazing experience, I’m proud of myself! The building is quite steep, and stepping over the edge was daunting, but once I took that first step, I knew I could do it. Hearing the cheers from below gave me a real lift - it felt like everyone was rooting for us.”
👏 Julie and the rest of the abseilers!
