All you can do is shoot your shot.

Make your audition the best you can, have a great time doing it, find your joy in the doing, don't sweat the rest.

Once it's sent, trust the process. The role will go to the best fit. You already aced your part.

You don't have to overthink the best. But be rest assured that the worst will not come to pass. Even if the worst comes to pass, time will pass anyway. It is only in your imagination that it becomes infinite and is not bound by the rules of time, thus remaining powerful without dilution.

Time is indifferent. It moves forward whether we suffer or celebrate. The event that feels unbearable today will, by the mere passage of days, lose its sharpness. Grief dulls. Embarrassment fades. Fear exhausts itself. What feels eternal in the moment becomes a memory.

The imagination, however, is not bound by time. It stretches a single feared moment into an endless horizon. In your mind, failure is not a day; it is a lifetime. Rejection is not an event; it is an identity. Loss is not a period; it is permanence. The mind suspends the feared outcome outside the normal flow of time, making it infinite and therefore terrifying. Your imagination does not have real life input data to feed. But in reality you are not concentrating on the fear of entering into a situation, but about coming out of it.

That is because reality is finite. In reality, pain has duration. In imagination, it has no limits. That is why imagined suffering often feels worse than real suffering. The real thing unfolds step by step, hour by hour, subject to fatigue, distraction, adaptation, and the steady erosion of time. The imagined version has none of these constraints. It remains pure, concentrated, undiluted.

In the name of avoiding danger, we should not avoid being in situations that nurture growth.

The difference is psychological. When the future is distant, it is aesthetic. When it arrives, it becomes administrative. Or perhaps what changed is not the future, but our innocence toward it. The past projected hope onto the unknown. The present projects anxiety.

Arguments almost never change anyone’s mind, because more often than not, people are not defending their stance, they are defending their intelligence. In the heat of an argument, the issue is rarely the issue itself; what is really at stake is the fear of appearing foolish. And so the conversation becomes a performance, not a pursuit of truth.

Change usually happens later, in private, when the person is no longer performing their intelligence for an audience. It happens quietly, when there is no need to protect pride.

That is, if the belief is strong enough to be conceived at all. Ironically, being strong in what you believe demands a certain fragility. True conviction expects you to be secure enough to let it break. The same strength that allows you to hold a belief must also allow you to loosen your grip on it.

Because real strength is not rigidity. It is the confidence to withstand the possibility of being wrong.

@DarkCloudVA 100%! It might still be a ways out, but I'm working on my own sci-fi thing and this is just one reason why.

...but I may have to scale down the idea. I went in thinking that I should only collab once I can pay everyone enough. Maybe I have to keep it a passion project for now.
