@EddieComeaux It is not right that coaches, college institutions, and the NCAA are making so much money off of these athletic programs and the athletes themselves have no rights of compensation for their image. They are being taken advantaged of! Are coaches called professional or "amateur"?
College athletes should be compensated for use of their names, images, and likenesses. This is a civil rights issue. #athleteinclusion
NCAA explores compensation for names, likeness https://t.co/zeBVDdSCgK,
@DianeCamposUCR @Songling_GSOE I think it is a great idea for academic advisors to get involved! Unfortunately, I think the system is so complex to the player's disadvantage. The whole system needs to change so that these players could be students first.
College Athletes should be considered students first and should be allowed to prioritize their academics. It seems as though african american athletes are pressured to put their athletics over their education. A terrible message to xpress to the youth. @Songling_GSOE #ucr150
@htran045 @Songling_GSOE Yes! They are totally being taken advantaged of while these institutions continue to make huge profits. It is time that that the NCAA and their participating institutions start offering what these players deserve. #ucr150
Shouldn't college athletes be considered students first before anything else? It is ridiculous that these players are being asked to choose non-demanding majors. Athletes should be able to pursue any passion they have pertaining academics. @Songling_GSOE #ucr150
@miranda_ramos27 @Songling_GSOE No one is being held responsible for how unfairly these athletes are treated. If coaches are able to transfer, so should players. In any workforce, employees have the freedom to leave if they feel they are being treated unfairly. The freedom of choice is being restricted. #ucr150
@hanakristen @Songling_GSOE It just makes me more infuriated thinking about how these coaches have the ability to transfer and the players do not. It just shows once again how no one is looking out for these athletes. They are being taken advantaged of and have their freedom of choice restricted. #ucr150
How would you feel if I told you that you couldn't transfer to another job that really wanted you and was offering better treatment? This is a current issue for college athletes who don't have the option to transfer colleges. The NCAA should changer this! #ucr150 @Songling_GSOE
@PizanoDenise @Songling_GSOE Yeah let's hold these coaches accountable! Not only them, but also the schools and the doctors that give them the ok to start playing again. Someone needs to take responsibility when these athletes are seriously injured. #ucr150
@UCRCYERRAS @Songling_GSOE I agree that coaches should be held accountable! Not only that, doctor diagnosis and recommendations should be well documented. University/college actions should also should be held accountable and to a high standard. They should have accountability is anything happens. #ucr150
The college athletic system is not allowing its players to comfortably come forward with any worries of a concussion due to fear they will be mistreated by their coaches/school. Allow these player to express any concerns & diagnose those concerns carefully #ucr150 @Songling_GSOE
@cnathan1211 @Songling_GSOE It is so true. Let's start giving all these athletes the equal rights and protections that they should be entitled to. Time get rid of the disparities. #ucr150
@taiyouesperanza @Songling_GSOE Yeah I think it is sad how something with initial good intentions has proven itself to be ineffective when it comes to the equal treatment of the two genders #ucr150
I hope female college athletes are aware of their talent and worth because it seems as though the NCAA does not. The NCAA ought to start valuing these women for the hard work they put in. #ucr150 @Songling_GSOE
Someone should be looking out for these college athletes! The NLI is putting too much pressure on these athletes to sign. This does not allow them to take the time to make decisions that are in their best interests. #ucr150 @Songling_GSOE
@shawna_beitler @Songling_GSOE Yes! That money should be going to the students. These students work hard and dedicate a lot of time which benefits both the university and the NCAA. They should be compensated accordingly. @Songling_GSOE #ucr150
@Alejand77947089@saragrummert I totally agree! We should start putting pressure on these universities and the NCAA to take care of these students. They should be the ones held accountable for the injury of these students. @Songling_GSOE #ucr150
The NCAA should take every step it possibly can to ensure the safety of its students/players. This should include covering medical and health costs. It's not a novel idea. Any smart institution or business would give the best care to their best workers @Songling_GSOE #ucr150
