@EddieComeaux I agree, having SRO’s at an educational institution does more harm than good. Students of color are being targeted at a far higher rate. Having SRO’s at schools contributes greatly to the school to prison pipeline
@MarkLee16238628@helloJuJudy I agree with you! Student athletes are only expected to focus on athletics because universities want to profit from these athletes. Anything less than exceeding the expectations on the field would cost the university potential profits #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
African American student athletes struggle greatly when they reach the university level of athletics. The resources are not as easily accessible to them because they are not offered these resources as feasibly as other student athletes #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
Amateurism laws were created by the NCAA for institutions to benefit from the student athletes, student athletes are not benefiting from these laws #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@MarkLee16238628@helloJuJudy Hi Mark,
I agree with you. Transfers in sports may seem easy for the athletes, however what the public does not see is the legal fine print and the many obstacles athletes must go through in order to achieve these transfers #ucr150
NCAA's rules on student athletes transferring colleges creates unnecessary barriers that prevent athletes from making decisions that are beneficial to their futures #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@MaleaHallawaara @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely I completely agree with you. Unreported head injuries can result in numerous dangerous outcomes, some of these outcomes have the potential to be fatal. There must be reform in concussion reporting protocol #ucr150
Although there are protocols for athletes who experience concussions, without concussions being reported or these protocols being implemented, these protocols are essentially useless in regards to protecting these student athletes #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@ucrgiuliana @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely I agree, although title IX was created to give women equal opportunities, there is still not being enough done to to say that women are receiving those rights #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
Title IX was created to give women the same opportunities as men in educational settings, however title IX has shown the inequalities of between men and women #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@MaleaHallawaara@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I agree with you, the future of athletes is entirely at the hands of their coach, and their future may be affected as something as minor as incompatible personalities. This is unfair and must be changed @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #ucr150
College athletes are being set up for failure when they do not know the legalities of the contracts the sign straight out of high school #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@SamanthaVela17 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely I agree with you, student athletes being barred from receiving monetary compensation is unfair. Student athletes continue to dedicate their time and effort into their sports, but are not receiving anything in return #ucr150
The NCAA doesn't want to change amateurism rules due to the fear of lost revenue, however failure to change the rules is unethical. Student athletes continue to dedicate their lives to athletics, but are not compensated for their efforts @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #UCR150
@EmilyRamelot @MisssNallely Thank you for sharing how eligibility affects you personally! How do you think that the NCAA can change this in a manner that is fair for student athletes? #ucr150
@EddieComeaux@prk_tara Student athletes are put at an unfair position. They worked hard to earn their positions at the university, but they must work harder in order to keep their athletic scholarship. Coaches should not have as much power as they do over these students. #athletesrights
In order for student athletes to be successful after completing their undergrad, student athletes must be allowed to be involved on campus to network and build relationships among their peers and faculty #ucr50@helloJuJudy
