@EddieComeaux the physical and mental traumas athletes went through is unjustifiable.NCAA needs to own up to their faults.Schools need to take responsibility for their athletes who were hurt. Having a convention/meeting for this to be known is absurd.Athletes don’t deserve this #AthletesRights
@CynthiaGarciaH7@helloJuJudy i agree these mandatory event would be a big help to student athletes who don’t go pro. It gives them different options of what to do after college @helloJuJudy#UCR50
student athletes are mostly focused on their athletics in college and so they don’t have time to think about what they want to do when they graduate, there should be programs that help these athletes think over the future and what they want to do #UCR50@helloJuJudy
@CynthiaGarciaH7@helloJuJudy i agree, schools are exploiting their athletes for money saying it goes back to them through good gyms and stuff but it’s not true. most student athletes come from low economic families and what they need is more than just a good field #UCR50@helloJuJudy
the fact that athletes are regulated on what the post on social media is not fair. they should have the freedom to post what they want bc it’s their account and their life #UCR50@helloJuJudy
it was interesting to read that even w/ a low # female coaches there is an even lower # of black female coaches for women’s basketball even though black female athletes make up most of that sport @helloJuJudy#UCR50
@kendra_alverson @helloJuJudy i agree, not only white coaches but there are more male coaches than female even if the sports team is a women’s sport team. There should be more openings for women coaches who might understand the female players better @helloJuJudy#UCR50
White people had more positive attitudes towards black teammates when they played a sport together rather than white people who played alone. From the beginning sports or not everyone should have a positive attitude towards other races @helloJuJudy#UCR50
@btoledo50@helloJuJudy i agree. Universities as a whole should have a goal for diversity. Just as it is important for sports teams to have one other non athletes should also learn to be more diverse and in doing so the future generations as well will become more diverse
the book states that coaches use “academic clustering” to keep players eligible by placing them in select majors. that isn’t fair to athletes though who have a major they want and that they like besides sport @helloJuJudy#UCR50
@kendra_alverson @helloJuJudy although athletics is important to players they have to realize that academics is just as important bc things can happen in an instant. If they continue to disregard school and only focus on athletics they won’t have much job options in the case of an injury or some other problem
Athletes have to deal with academics, practice, and many other things when in college and so they say that athletes require extra support from the school. Yet i don’t see why athletes should receive such special treatment when they chose to do it @helloJuJudy#UCR50
@ivanapivaral i think players shoplifting be compensated a little because they are the reason people come to watch and they are the ones that put the most work in the game. #UCR50@helloJuJudy
U.S universities have spent over more than $30 billion on sports facilities. Universities are going against each other to see whose stadium is better. Sports is important to people but the amount of money that goes into building these facilities is too much #UCR50@helloJuJudy
@CynthiaGarciaH7@helloJuJudy i agree. there are so many other groups on campus that really need benefits and help from the school but they don’t get as much as student athletes do
